'History of the Russian State'' - is a work of the greatest Russian writer of the epoch of the Sentimentalism, the reformer of Russian language N. M. Karamzin (1766-1826). This is a work, consisting of 12 volumes and describing Russian history from the ancient times till the government of Ivan the Terrible and the Time of Troubles, the author started it in 1804 and worked on it till his death in 1826.
