Overview

Home and Away by Samantha Wayland

You can build a team, but you have to find your home.

Rupert Smythe is fond of many things. Callum Morrison isn’t one of them.

Rupert is a quiet, thoughtful business man and, sadly, a total wimp. Maybe not the ideal candidate to run a professional hockey team, but he signed on to do it anyway. As his life has reminded him on an almost daily basis since, this isn’t the most brilliant idea he’s ever had. And that was before Callum showed up.

Being in the spotlight is just part of being a professional athlete, but Callum needs a break. He arrives in Moncton unannounced, determined to help grow the team he just bought, and under the assumption he’d be welcome. Possibly he should have tried to make a better first impression.

Callum figures he can push through the rest of the summer, never expecting two kids, a host of friends, and his growing feelings for Rupert to derail everything he has ever believed about what he wanted, and what he could have.

This book is so special to me, Home and Away helped cement my love of this genre. It's become a book that provides comfort when I'm sad or not feeling well. I simply love it! Rupert Smythe is a brilliant business man, he's quiet, kind and he thinks, a total wimp. He doesn't think he's the ideal person to run a professional hockey team, but he takes on the job anyway. Every day is a challenge and has him questioning the sanity of his decision and that before HE shows up! Callum Morrison is a retired professional hockey player and part owner of the Moncton Ice Cats professional ice hockey team. He has come to Moncton unannounced, determined to help grow this team. To say he makes a poor first impression with Rupert would be a gross understatement. These two clash immediately, both being completely stubborn. When a family emergency arises for Rupert, the last thing he expects is for Callum to not only have his back, but to hold his hand as well. As the two grow closer and friendship turns to love, they will face some obstacles. Their lives will end up being changed in ways neither would have ever believed when the first met. Two children in need will make these men fight to be a family. They will see that although they may be very different, together, they are unstoppable. As I stated above, I love this book!! It is one of my favorite feel good books. Samantha has written several books about the Morrison family and is currently working on one now. Each one is great, this one is my favorite though. I hope this review will introduce Rupert and Callum to a new reader, you won't be disappointed.
