About the Author

Born and ‘Raised Jay’ in Newport, Vermont, Tracy Russell witnessed the rise and downfall of the ‘Kingdom Con’ firsthand. As a registered nurse in Orleans County for over a decade, she retired from healthcare in 2021 to open the first licensed permanent makeup and tattoo studio on Main Street directly next door to ‘The Hole’. Preferring palm trees by the warm ocean to below freezing temperatures, Tracy now resides in north Florida. Still a fan of snowboarding, you can find her on the New England or Quebecois slopes when she returns home to visit each ski season.

Always a crazy cat lady at heart, her most prized possessions are her eight (yes, eight) black cats: Onyx, Ebony, Iris, Tilly, Pepper, Pluto, Pewter and Patches. Black cats are labeled as least adopted and most abused, which is how they won her heart in 2020 when she adopted brothers Ebony and Onyx as pandemic pets. She would bring home all of the stray bears if it wouldn’t cause a mutiny at home with the current feline inhabitants. Adopt, don’t shop. In the words of the legendary Bob Barker, please have your pets spayed or neutered! Otherwise, Tracy will be forced to collect them all like Pokémon.
