About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jessica Clare writes erotic contemporary romance, including the Billionaire Boys Club novels and the Bluebonnet novels. She also writes under two other pen names. As Jessica Sims, she writes fun, sexy shifter paranormals. She also has a third pen name, because three is more fun than two. As Jill Myles, she writes a little bit of everything, from sexy, comedic urban fantasy to fairy tales gone wrong. She lives in a teeny tiny town in North Texas that has no Starbucks, which is a cruel and unusual punishment. She spends her time with her husband, pets, and Keurig. Because, coffee.

Jen Frederick is the USA Today bestselling author of the Woodlands series as well as the Hitman series.  She lives with her husband, child, and one rambunctious dog. She's been reading stories all her life but never imagined writing one of her own.

WoW! So before going off to bed I grabbed LAST HIT since I wasn't entirely sleepy I thought I'd read a chapter or two. HOLY COW! Couldn't put it down. Finally crashed at 2am! THEN woke up at 3am (don't ask me why don't know, couldn't sleep) and said what the heck and started reading again! I finished the book by 7am! LOVED IT!!! Written in both Daisy's and Nikolai POVs, each brings a distinct individual description of the events and how their relationship came to be. Daisy is a young woman who lost her mom at a young age and while her father was still in the picture, she lost him to that day, to fear. She made the decision to no longer let fear be her captive and she leaves. Starts a new life. I will say, when I first read the blurb, I thought 'Oh no... not one of those 'I'm so innocent and I need a man to take care of me, blah blah blah" kind of books where you just want to smack her across the head. I was so grateful that wasn't the case. She is smart and trying to be very independent but doesn't come across as too much as she realizes when she needs to have people help her. When I was posting on social media about this book, I asked the question, "Could you fall in love with a hitman?" and the answer is "If the hitman is Nikolai, then YES!!!" He is kind, caring, sweet and yes, he's a deadly killer, but there is a reason! As you get to know him, you want to be the one who chases the nightmares aware and protects him from his own evil thoughts. What I enjoyed most about Nikolai is that while he was a complete Alpha male he wasn't the typical type!! Overall an awesome read that made me add the entire series to my TBR Mountain List :) I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next!

So, I read this book on a recommendation from a friend. Not usually my cup of tea. Wow, I read the first book over night, and the second in one day. I laughed, and felt very connected with the less than perfect characters. The have huge walls to over come but the writing makes them human. Loved this series.

Last Hit by Jessica Clare & Jen Frederick is the first story in their Hitman series. A stunning story of a Ukranian hitman who has struggled every day of his life to survive and a beautiful young woman who was sheltered to a fault by her father's own diseased mind. Daisy has escaped her father's self-made prison and is managing to make her own way in a big town. With a roommate and a job and a confusing new friend in Nick. Nick (AKA Nikolai) is beyond taken with Daisy. He knows in his heart he is not worthy of her beauty and innocence but he can't help but covet her. He makes it his goal to protect her, when he's not working a hit, that is. A well-paced, stunning twist of light and dark that will leave you hooked on this series and these characters and the secondary characters on whom the next book is based. I can't wait to start Last Breath.

2 stars for not being a very well written book; 3 stars for the underlining plot I am quite fond of the idea of a Russian Hitman finding and protecting a virginal innocent girl he has fallen in love with. What I did not care for was the fact that that our heroine was sheltered and locked away until 21 but she seemed to waver back and forth on just how sheltered she actually was. Throughout the book it was hard to discern if an upcoming event would spark her sheltered innocent side or if all of the sudden it would be one of her I-was-sheltered-and-innocent-but-apparently-this-is-one-of-the-things-I-learned-from-a-library-book moments. I know it may sound silly but I think that if she had been sheltered and kept in her home for that long and under those circumstances, that when she finally got out she would be a bit more nervous and ignorant of the world before her. Only a handful of times did she act like this. Aside from those few moments, I felt like she acted pretty similarly to the way a college student acts when moving to a new city for school at 18 without the aid of their loving family. Another thing, I know she is supposed to be naïve and cutely innocent but who says/thinks the word “stupider” so much? No, thank you. To me the story was choppy and at times the timelines didn’t seem to match up or be as clear as they should be. It just seemed to be a bit all over the place. I guess I didn’t feel the chemistry between the characters. I loved Nikolai as a character and I understood his feelings for Daisy but I don’t think that the female heroine was as fully developed. I found them lacking as a couple. I didn’t really care for Daisy’s character so perhaps that is why the chemistry was not there for me. All in all, the bones of the story were good but I didn’t like the delivery.

I have yet to be disappointed in Ms. Clare's writing. I was a little skeptical on it being another series, but each book is an individual novel. Great story line and very real characters. I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the series. I know I am enjoying them and will read them again.

I absolutely loved this book, the idea of a Hitman being the male lead and a naive farm girl as the heroine. From the very first moment Daisy and Nikolai meet sparks fly and I could tell that this was going to be a romance that I wouldn't forget in a hurry. There's something about bad boys that I really enjoy reading about, and Nikolai is the definition of a bad boy, I didn't seem to mind when he spent the start of the book watching/spying on Daisy through her apartment building window, through his POV we get to know his thoughts and reasoning behind it, and you know what, he can spy on me anytime! His accent is hot and the feelings that he develops for Daisy just made me adore him even more. Daisy is a very likeable character and her innocence and naïveté balances Nikolai out perfectly, she helps him to believe that he's worthy to be loved and to be happy. There's so much to like in this book, the concept was executed so well and I really feel for these characters I've come to love. I'm so excited and anxious for the next book, I feel really bad for Regan and I can't wait to read her and Daniel's story. A great start to a new series.
