This is a pretty good book. I have a full review of this book, along with notes (chapter by chapter) but unfortunately I can't link it here. To sum it up is hard because the book goes through so much. The book is broken into multiple parts. Part I, is about 65% of the book. That's the bulk of the material. This includes concepts on: 1. the four pillars of freedom (self discipline, self-responsibility, self-awareness and self-remembrance) 2. the four stages of spiritual growth (victim consciousness, manifester consciousness, channel consciousness and being conscoiusness) Within Victim Consciousness he discusses what it is. how to spot it. how to move out of it... he gives a sample meditation technique along with inquiry questions to ask yourself in meditation (or after meditation) to help find and reveal the victim consciousness in our lives. In the Manifestation section he goes into the use of Affirmations and Visualizations and discusses the laws of manifestation (as New Thought believes.) Michael Bernard Beckwith also discusses the ways in which things manifest in our lives (he calls it the Windows of Manifestation) which include the Job Factor (as in the character Job of the Old Testament), the Lesson factor, the Blessing factor and the Collective Consciousness factor. He discusses how to move out of this stage and into the next. He also gives an exercise (similar to the one in the Victim Consciousness chapter) that includes a brief meditation, as well as a set of questions to ask yourself. He also moves into a "how to manifest" exercise as well - making use of Affirmations and visualizations. I did have a minor disagreement. The author feels we can't sum everything as karma, but coming from a Buddhist background I think Karma is the source. while he explains the windows of consciousness, each window (a Buddhist could argue) is the result of karma. Karma and Emptiness are like paint and canvas. Emptiness being the lack of self existence, karma being the color that paints our world (perception.) it's a minor point of mine. That is just part I, there is another part that is the actual Visioning section! The visioning section is comprised of the pitfalls we might face. The dark night of the soul. Methodologies to visioning and much more. I saw one other review here that was somewhat mediocre complaining it felt like there wasn't any substance there in the book. It's there, but you have to really pay attention. One thing I've noticed about Rev. Michael Beckwith is that he uses words that are not common and his sentence structure can cause a reader to have read a paragraph and not really know what they just read. You have to really stop and pay attention. Break it up and ask yourself "what did he just say?" Take notes... be a student to the text and it will be very rewarding.

I was disappointed in this book. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say. Unlike his Spiritual Liberation book which I liked this one seemed repetitive and not to say anything. I didn't find any inspiration in what was related. He tends to use too many quotes from other people. I didn't find any of the stages to be relayed as a process or helpful. He is very much into meditation as a resource for most everything which is fine.
