Overview

Ian Padraic Murphy harbors a scandalous secret. To avenge the death of his best friend in a Belfast raid, Ian joins the Provisional IRA, which he conceals for 30 years. Driven by guilt and remorse, Ian atones for his years in the IRA by working with Sinn Fein to negotiate the 1998 Peace Accord, which ended The Troubles in Ireland. After deserting the IRA, Ian's own troubles are far from over when they order his assassination. The assignment is given to his friend, IRA Commander, Kieran Fitzpatrick. About the Author

Rex Owens published his first novel in the Irish Troubles Series, Murphy's Troubles, in November 2013, the second, Out of Darkness, in June 2015, and the third, Dead Reckoning, in April 2018. His fourth novel, The Life and Times of Rowan Daly will be published in May 2021. UW Madison writing instructor Christine DeSmet describes his writing as cinematic.
Rex is very active in supporting local libraries. He serves as the President of both the Sun Prairie Public Library and the Dane County Library Service. He is also the discussion leader for the Wednesday Afternoon Book Club which meets monthly.
