The Boston Fire Department has a long and storied history (as many do) with generations of family signing up to fight fires in their community. In this story, two recruits are competing for a single position, but both of these recruits bring something special (and secret) to the table. Chloe Arish is a Dragon shifter, so determined to win the position and get the gear that she faked documents and is ready to work twice as hard as any man to achieve her goal. Stubborn, competitive, determined and wholly her own person, the BFD will have a hard time finding anyone more suited to the position. Unless you look at legacy recruit Ryan Fiero, with a family of noted firemen and the ability to rise from the flames as he’s a Phoenix shifter. Ryan’s everything the department is looking for, he knows the expectations, he is physically capable and born to the job. But, both are hired and passed into the ranks…do they dare share the secrets that make them so perfect for the position? SUCH a fun and funny story, with Ryan being all alpha-male with a touch of chauvinist, finding himself in need of saving by Chloe – the one person he had decided (in his own head) he needed to watch out for. Oh they are delicious together and their connection sparks off the pages: this is not a slow-burner, both Ryan and Chloe jump off the pages and grab your attention, and just may scald you in the process in the best possible ways. Especially when Chloe loses all patience with what she sees as overbearing behavior and checks his attitude and actions with moves of her own. A wonderfully light and fun read, sure to bring a smile. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
My Wild Irish Dragon was a delightful read. Chloe and Ryan both want the same job at the safe fire station, but only one position is open. This leads to the two competing for the position. But, the chief finds funding to hire both since both are so well qualified. You think they would stop their competition now that both got the job, but their rivalry continues. Soon they learn to respect the other, become friends, and fall for one another. The banter and humor was enjoyable between these two. Their relationship felt honest and deep as it developed throughout the story. I also enjoyed several side characters and family members. I didn’t care so much for Chloe’s cousin Aiden and his storyline. I was a bit shocked that when he did something completely against Mother Nature’s rules their was no repercussions at all. The only thing that still gets to me and this bothered me in the first book too. Why can’t the shifters or supernaturals smell that someone is a shifter or a supernatural? They can use other aspects of their abilities when in human form. So, why can’t they use this one? This would clear things up and help. I had a pleasant time with My Wild Irish Dragon. I liked that two noble paranormals where trying to make a difference in their community. I also enjoyed the humor that was brought into the storyline. Rated: 3 Stars
Chloe Arish and Ryan Fiero are both out for the same position in a Boston fire department. After Chloe proves she’s just as capable as Ryan, the chief manages to get them both hired. From then on, sparks fly between the two as they train together and eventually work together. Ok, for the most part, this book was 3 stars. I liked Chloe and Ryan, not loved, but that’s ok. I liked the plot, even though there was no really big conflict and much of it was predictable. What made me give it only a 2 was one of the side characters. Without giving anything away, I basically hated Mother Nature. I didn’t like that the author mixed the Mother Nature character with a Greek Mythological character (this was forgivable), but I really didn’t like her interactions in the book at all and didn’t see why she was necessary. I also didn’t understand why she got mad when a supernatural character revealed themselves to another supernatural character. That made no sense to me at all. Then again, even though I know it’s a plot point, I didn’t get why supernaturals couldn’t recognize each other. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review
A dragon shifter, Chloe, and a phoenix shifter, Ryan, both want the newest opening on the Boston Fire Department. Neither knows the other's nature but sparks truly do fly when they are competing for the same position. Ryan becomes very protective of Chloe, while Chloe is set against ever having a relationship due to her perfect match having impossible diamond eyes. She fights the attraction toward Ryan but he methodically breaks down her walls. This story is flat out fun. Cute and endearing romance with a fiery hot connection that cannot be denied. My Wild Irish Dragon had me laughing out loud and cheering our H/H on. I received this ARC copy of My Wild Irish Dragon from Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for a honest review.
My Wild Irish Dragon by Ashlyn Chase was another fun paranormal romance that I read in one day. I can always count on Ms. Chase to provide well developed characters, a story line that is as smooth as warm maple syrup, laughter and sparks that fly off the pages. Chloe and Ryan were great together as they went from competitors, to friends, to lovers because they both matured as the relationship grew. Ryan's family is very intriguing and they definitely put the twists into the romance. After all, tradition is good but only up to a point and then it can halt opportunities. I seriously love Gaia and look forward to her appearances on the page. She manages to make me laugh and to make me think during her mini-lectures. I also enjoyed having time to visit again with some of the characters from the previous books. I was given an ARC from Sourcebooks Casablanca vis NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Two paranormal beings vying for the same job which one would succeed. In Ashlyn Chase latest book My Wild Irish Dragon. We are introduced to Chloe Arish a Boston Dragon who has problem with our American slang, but even that didn’t stop her from fulfilling her dream as a firefighter. Only one person is standing in her way to becoming the next women firefighter that is Ryan Fiero. Ryan Fiero was born in a line of firefighters. He was destined or rather born to follow in the shoes of the other family members. But, with Chloe standing in his way, a man must do what a man must do…He plots to get her kicked off the team. Even though this is the second book in Ashlyn Chase “Boston Dragon” series, this book can be read as a stand-alone. My Irish Dragon was an enjoyable read. The chemistry between Ryan and Chloe was combustible… (No pun intended). Secrets are revealed, and the life that Ryan and Chloe hopes to spend together may be in jeopardy. So far I am really enjoying this series. What is not to like, we have dragons, werewolves, and witches all in one series. I can’t to see what legend is born next.
