Swept from America's Civil War to a strange planet dominated by Hordes who treat humans as "cattle", Andrew Keane and his soldiers have fought ten long years to free the oppressed humans from the brutal rule of the nomadic Hordes.  Now ten years later, the situation has worsened: a member of the Bantag horde has come through the mysterious channel of light to this planet from a world with the equivalent of Earth's 20th century technology.  With the number of warriors overwhelmingly in the Bantags' favor and their advanced technological knowledge, Keane and his officers must use every trick possible -- as well as having their genius Chuck Ferguson devise more advanced weapons and aircraft -- to keep from being annihilated.

A fast-paced and moving picture of survival against seemingly impossible odds.

This is another action packed book in the series. It is fast paced and makes you catch your breath just to stay up with all the activity that takes place. Once again the humans must unite to keep alive and not be consumed by the Hords. Just keep the action coming again and again!!

During this war the humans are forced to divide their armies and now hope they won't be consumed. The shear grueling marches they must undertake in order to counter the Hordes advances keeps you reading well after midnight. Once again Keane is faced with matching strategies against an alien that wants only to fill the pots with food. It's the never ending threat knocking at the door, and ready to walk through this time.
