Party Naked by Mari Carr

Stephanie Harper is perfectly happy co-owning Books and Brew, where she slings drinks and entertains her friends with cutting wit and a cynical take on love. She's convinced she has no time for anything deeper than sex; she has a business to run, after all. And her thrice-married mother has proven happy ever after doesn't exist.

Jarod Nolan begs to differ. Chance has him running into Steph--and giving her a ticket--one morning, but it's fate that finds him in her place of business that same evening. A sizzling one-night stand ensues, and although Stephanie escapes before he wakes the next morning, Jarod is already sure she's worth the chase.

Steph's more than willing to party naked with the hot cop, but she's adamant they're driven by lust, not love. Jarod is prepared to prove otherwise, even if it means giving up one of the things he and Stephanie do best...

What's that old saying? Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder?

Strong minded Heroines and devastatingly sexy Heroes always make for a great story. Add in a great plot line and sexual chemistry and you have Party Naked. This book will keep you page turning wanting more. So if you like to read about a HEA with a real story attached, something that you could see happening in to you in real life, than this is a story to check out. Coming from a recent break-up leaves Jarod, our main male character, less than open minded to the idea of meeting someone new, until he sets his sights on Stephanie and her double parked VW Bug. Not only is Jarod a recently promoted police detective but he is also blocked in by her car and not the happiest camper about it. Stephanie is having a crappy few hours... well more like entire day. From the moment she opened her eyes that more until running into Jarod it has been one negative after another, making her want a ground hog day redo. Their meeting is fate, or so it would seem, but off to a bumpy start does not a great relationship make. After their initial meeting, Jarod stumbles upon Stephanie again and can't seem to keep his hands off her, realizing that she is someone that he needs to have and that she may be the answer to all his unasked questions. As the relationship develops, sexual tension builds, secrets are told, and feelings are realized. Fate was definitely on the side of these two that day Stephanie happened to double park in front of this grumpy cop. Party Naked is a story for those looking to read a believable tale of two strangers finding how much they have in common when on the surface they couldn't be more different. Mari Carr finds a way to keep a reader wanting more while still making the story believable and enjoyable for anyone. For a great read with a wonderful plot line this is a book to put at the top of your TBR pile and an author to add to your keep pile for sure. originally posted at Whipped Cream Reviews

Short hot and surprisingly sweet story.  Usually when you have a quick read like this it is either super sexy or sweet so when I found both in this story it made my day.  Stephanie Harper is working hard to make her dreams come true.  Despite her degree in psychology she is working as a bartender as part owner of Books and Brew.  She doesn’t believe in love as she’s seen her mother try and fail repeatedly.  When she gets a ticket from hot cop Jarod Nolan and he follows it up with a visit to Books and Brew she wants to party naked can Jarod convince her that they can have more?   I read this in one sitting and can recommend it as a quick feel good story.

Reviewed By~Ive Review Copy Provided By~Publisher Stephanie Harper has the best job, she co-owns a book store that sells liquor...how awesome is that! Jarod Nolan is a new detective and the last thing he thought he would be doing on his first day on the job is to be writing a double parking ticket. He had just been dumped by his girlfriend for being too nice and he decided that day to show someone anyone just how not nice he can be. He didn't realize this was going to lead him into the arms of the woman he wrote the ticket to just the same night. Stephanie certainly didn't expect for the person who ruined her day to walk into the bar that same night and kiss her silly. What excuse does Jarod give? You will have to read to find out. This story is funny, intriguing and has the best smartass heroine. I really enjoyed the teasing nature of both characters, how they both complimented each other with their sarcasm. I like that the heroine is stubborn about love and that Jarod insists on courting her properly, showing her it is not just about the sex. Really demonstrating the difference between love and lust and taking chances on love. The author also wrote about each of the friends a little and showed some of what their characters are going to be like. I can't wait for the second book in the series to come out on March 20 called "Screwdriver"...yes each book is named after a drink :) Favorite Quote: "Jarod had sexed her stupid."
