Portrait of a Lone Wolf (Black HIlls Wolves #7) by Katalina Leon

A mixed-blood Native American wolf-shifter, abandoned by a teenage mother and ignored by an absentee father, Rio Waya has never fit in or felt worthy of love. But when he comes home to the Black Hills, he realizes he wants a mate of his own.

Recovering from a cheating ex who started a new family behind her back, Sela López seeks escape to pull her life back together. As a documentary filmmaker and wildlife photographer, she rents a cabin in the Black Hills with plans to film the beleaguered wolf population. But she's so busy looking through a camera lens she doesn't see trouble coming.

Sparks fly as mutual fears and vulnerabilities surface when Sela and Rio meet. She can't figure out why the mysterious Mr. Waya is so anxious about having a documentary made of the Black Hills Wolves. But when his secret is exposed, all hell breaks loose. Can Rio win Sela's trust and soothe her fears about allowing a hunky wolf-shifter into her heart?

A GREAT STORY OF A LONE WOLF...LONELY AND HAS FACED THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO MATE FOR HIM I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION: We have a young woman Sela Lopez wanting to do a film on the wolves of Los Lobos , she is renting a cabin from a American Indian Rio Waya who is a wolf shifter. He didn't know she plan on filming the wolves before renting the cabin to her are he would not have done it. Now as always in a good book trouble has to come, But what kind? There will be lots of surprises from the first day till five months later. And I hope there will be more to this story. I have loved every minute of it

You’re the one I’ve been waiting for. 5 PAWS UP In the big picture, she and the wolves were a natural match. (Oh more than you know Sela. More than you know!) WO-O-OF! Now that was one intensely captivating unique story! I loved the curiosity & almost immediate pull between Sela and Rio! And how can you not love the opening piece where all Sela wants is some food, while everyone seems to just want her to leave. I found the whole thing so funny and odd at first, but the second time reading the book made that part all the more hilarious! Yes, you did read that right - I finished the book then flipped right back to the beginning and read it again! I PAWSITIVELY LOVED IT!! I was completely enthralled with the story! I love all things Wolf! Like their rules & laws, the history behind each character - their human & Wolf side, as well as the history of the Pack & town. I loved the humor and playfulness of Blackie. This is my first Black Hills Wolves story as well as my first Katalina book and WOW! What an enchanting story! I think that the best way I could pay tribute to such a momentous occasion of punching my double v-card would be to follow it up with my second experience for both – that’s right! Katalina’s second book in the Black Hills Wolves #25 – Uncaged comes out August 21, 2015 and I can’t wait to read it! Her writing style is awesome, captivating the reader from the beginning and holding it throughout the story. I loved the playfulness, the romance, friendship, the way the town and its people all band together to form their own family, it is all just so FANGERRIFIC! Of course my favorite part is all things Wolf and Mate and everything that happens AFTER the Mating! After all, that is why I read Shifter books in the first place – because of the magic behind the human-animal and for the One True Mate factor! Anything else I want to add here will give too much away, but I think you will agree that those are two of the main characteristics that should be in all GRRREAT Shifter stories! Reading a multi-book series that is written by numerous authors sounded intriguing, but I wasn’t sure how it would work. Since I just discovered it, I was worried I would have a LOT of reading to do to catch up since there are a whopping 25 books in the series already!! But the best I could figure out was that each book was a stand-alone with each author maybe having past characters of theirs appear in their newer books, but each story has an ending and doesn’t carry onto the next book. Now that I have had my first taste of the Black Hills Wolves series I cannot wait to read them all!

Portrait Of A Lone Wolf- Black Hills Wolves-A captivating romantic story that touches your heart. Drop dead gorgeous wolf shifter Rio finds himself in a profoundly precarious situation when he tries to outwit the exceptionally clever, sultry, independent filmmaker Sela. The cast of characters are convincing, impressive and engaging, banter outstanding, heart-wrenching moments, picturesque and potent scene descriptions, plot spectacular, secrets unfold, an astounding surprise, pent up desires escalate, life threatening moments, jaw-dropping heart-pounding romance, and a conclusion that soothes the soul. Spectacular exhilarating well written read by a truly gifted author. The fusion of authenticity and fantasy is potent and impressive. Emotions sky-rocketed in this story; each character had an Achilles heel, however, their unfading devotion and earned trust beamed like the brightest star in the sky. I so relish how the author pulls feelings from the reader, leaving you with a most gratifying read. If you enjoy shifter romance, this is a fabulous book for your library. In the world of shifters the possibilities are illimitable and fascinating. {I received an arc for a thoroughly truthful review}. Without reservations I highly recommend this book.

~ 3.5 Portrait of a Lone Wolf Stars ~ A Good enjoyable read! Portrait of a Lone Wolf is book seven in the Black Hills Wolves series by Katalina Leon. I have been reading this series out of order, which is unusual for me, but each novella feels like they can be read as a stand-a-lone. KLeon is also a new to me author and I found her writing to be enjoyable. Sela our human comes to Los Lobos to heal and film the wolves in the area. Her character is one that is determined, stubborn, tough, and independent Rio our park ranger and full-blooded wolf. He tries to discourage Sela from filing, but when that doesn’t work he decides to help in an unusual way As for this series I might understand more about the Los Lobos wolves if I did read the series in order. Each book focuses on one couple. We don’t get to see, learn, or get much of a feel for the Los Lobos wolf pack. What we do get is a quick insta-love, where things move fast between the couple. I like Rio. He had this master plan to take things slow, but that goes up in flames when Sela sees him shift. I liked that he was/is straight forward on what he wants from her. Sela took things rather well after finding out. That first conversation was a little tense, but they got past it. The sex was sensual and sweet for this story, with both parties getting what they needed. We also get an idea of who Sela and Rio are as individuals. Very well developed characters for such a short novella. I also found it interesting to learn that the wolf shifters are derived from the Great Spirit of Waya The only thing that bothered me was the ultimate in their first conversation, but that did get rectified.  All around Portrait of a Lone Wolf was a good read. If you enjoy quick insta-love reads, then this book is for you. * Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy provided by Katalina Leon via HCBS Author Services with the sole purpose of an honest review.
