Overview

Ryder Daniels and Jason Mallory seem to have it all but even the most loving marriage takes work. Ryder's past leads him to remain silent yet resentful in the face of conflict while Jason strives to prove he can take care of his family without Ryder's wealth, even if it costs him precious time with his husband and daughter.

When a devastating illness leaves them shaken and helpless, Ryder is forced to face the one person he never thought to see again with a life or death request that even he isn't sure will be granted, but his decisions have far-reaching consequences. Believing he and Ryder have no secrets, Jason is distraught to discover otherwise, revealing yet another crack in their once-perfect relationship.

Adrift and uncertain, both struggle to hold onto a love previously thought unshakeable. A forbidden past is exposed, shocking Ryder to the core, but it means little without Jason by his side. Marriage is a partnership and both men must learn that only by working through their pain and heartbreak together can they achieve a lifetime of love.

Rescued is the first book in the Rescued Hearts series, and we start off with Jason and Ryder. Jason has just finished with his long-term girlfriend, and Ryder has been alone for a long time, although he has his pitbull, Pearl, to keep him company. Ryder's life hasn't been that great, although he was born with the proverbial silver spoon. You find out just what a first class piece of work his mother is! Watching these two get together was superb. After Jason worked his own stuff out (which I do understand) I really didn't want Ryder to fall back in Jason's arms so quickly. Still, that's just one small point, and certainly did not affect my enjoyment of this story. Exceedingly well written, with a sweet story, and hot and sexy intimate scenes, you really do get the best of both worlds with this book. I loved the characters, and the world-building, and would highly recommend this book. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and get the second book! * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Rescued was Felice Stevens first book. It was the book I fell in love with her writing on. When Reunited came out, a sequel to Rescued, I was over the moon. I knew I was going to get to hang out with Ryder and Jason again. Five years has gone by and they have a beautiful little girl, Gemma. She’s their pride and joy. Jason’s family has embraced them. Ryder’s bond with his father and brother are good. Life is great… until it isn’t. As a parent my greatest fear is outliving my children. So when Ryder and Jase have to deal with a sick daughter whose life is in trouble, it scared the life out of me. On top of that; issues come to the surface, demons come out of the woodwork, and resolutions must be made. In true Felice Stevens fashion the HEA wasn’t easy. She got you there but she made you work for it. It’s interesting how she writes her books, like this one, she has sharp edges to the situations. They stab at your heart and she twists that knife. But on the other side of that there’s a fluffy warmth. Her love scenes are hot but they are super sweet. There’s always an element of friends and family too. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy her writing so much and Reunited has the sharpness and fluffiness very well balanced. This isn’t a standalone, I mean sure you can read it without reading Rescued but I wouldn’t recommend it. You need to follow Ryder and Jase’s journey from the beginning so read Rescued first.

Great Addition to Jason and Ryder's Story!! Felice Stevens has delivered yet another family oriented and emotionally power read with Reunited. I absolutely loved it. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would, because that is how much I enjoyed Reunited, the continuation of Jason and Ryder's story, who we first fell in love with in Rescued. This book was so thoroughly well written, and contained so many twists that I did not see coming. Felice Stevens really took me on a shocking rollercoaster ride with this one, but it wasn't a ride that I couldn't or wanted to get off until I came to the end, and even then, I wanted the ride to last a little longer. So be prepared for the truly unexpected with this one, because it will truly bring out every emotion in you, and make you constantly ask WHY IS THIS HAPPENING???!!! In Reunited, Jason and Ryder find themselves dealing with issues that they never realized were issues, as well as a brand new life-threatening issue that appears out of nowhere, which provides the basis for them having to do some deep digging and soul searching to find the solution, as well as accept the solution to their problem. And that solution, or rather, how Jason and Ryder choose to deal with the solution is what puts their relationship and love to the test. I highly recommend this heart-wrenching, but also heart-warming story, that shows you the power and love of family, but most especially, the love of parents. You will love Jason and Ryder, or love them even more if you already have read Rescued. However, Gemma, their brave and strong little girl will steal your heart. And of course, since it is a continuation of Jason and Ryder's story, all of the rest of the family, and then some are back.
