Can't wait for more! Self improvement with a the benefit of finding love! This is the newest installment of a series based on people trying to heal from rough younger years that attend a seminar. They get more help than they could ever hope for!
*I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review* This book is pretty special. I don't think I have ever rooted so hard for two people to get together as I did for Paris and Weaver. I wanted so bad for her to find peace and happiness after every hellish thing that happened to her. I loved Weaver for his caring and strength and his growth from their first meeting. I have not read the first two books yet, and while this book can be read as a standalone, I wish I had. I feel I would have benefited from having done so just to have background on Jenna and her seminars and Paris's past from her brother Sean's perspective (Scars, second book of the series.) I hope at some point that we get at least a glimpse of this couple in the future so we can see how life turned out for them. I was very moved by this book.
*received an ARC in exchange for an honest review* I've actually read her Tuesday's Child years ago, so it was a pleasant surprise to realize later that that author and this one were the same. Not at all a fantasy novel, yet still with its own character, Scales was a lovely read, insightful and enlightening on the people who seek out self-help seminars. Reading about Paris' personal journey to getting out of her own sort of hell was a struggle because of the things she went through that not many talk about openly. Weaver was a good match for her as she was for him, each helping the other out until they could reach their dreams. Personally, I couldn't read this in a single sitting, but it was amazingly sweet with a tinge of darker things to make it interesting. It definitely was perfect for my coffee/tea breaks, making it easier to take in all that they went through in the week of their seminar. A recommended read for those who love thought-out stories with characters who find the heart to break the cycle and just go for it.
Not having read either Dale Meyer or any of the previous books in the Broken... but Mending series, I really had no idea what to expect. I am happy to report that I have nothing but good things to say about this author and this book. Both impressed me greatly. The characters created in Paris and Weaver are so real and flawed and multi-faceted and were truly beautiful in their imperfection. You just can't help but to become invested in their story and you find yourself rooting for them to make it work. Overall, I have to say that I found this book to be intriguing, compelling, absorbing, and absolutely enthralling. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a riveting and provocative read. * I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Scales of Justice by Dale Mayer Broken but... Mending Series Book Three Paris Wilson has high hopes going into Jenna's seminar. After all her brother Sean found love when he came to one. She desperately wanted to find healing as well...only she didn't want that knife near her festering wound. Couldn't she heal without letting everything out? Apparently not. Weaver was a psychology grad and sees this workshop Jenna is doing as a stepping stone to his career. If he can write up a report on it, she'll help him get it published. Sure, he has troubles of his own but nothing he needs help with. Or so he thought. Jenna, the professor who teaches these seminars, has a special knack of knowing just who needs what...and who. Seems she knows who to pair up to help each other...and maybe more than just for this week at her workshop. If you enjoy series, you'll want to start with book one, Skin. Sean's story, Paris's brother, is in book two, Scars. **Sexual content
A highly emotional read. It is hard not to relate to the pain the characters are feeling.
