Two people from different worlds are drawn together by murder and misfortune. Bronte lost everything she loved - her little boy and her marriage. It's only after she's critically injured in an accident that she realizes she wants to live. Her plastic surgeon has his own agenda. He gave her another woman's face. Now as a result she's in a killer's sights. Jack West spent five years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. His sudden exoneration has left him reeling. He needs to find his missing wife, Chantal. She betrayed him. Chantal is known now as Mischief Jones. She is being hunted. She plans to use Bronte to avoid her enemy as well as her husband. Bronte is in over her head. She's attracted to Jack. He saved her life but he won't believe that she's not his wife. Can they escape the man determined to kill Bronte? Secret Child kept me on the edge of my seat. The suspense is non stop as is the passion between Jack and Bronte. I cared for these two. The secondary characters add more drama to the story. I couldn't put this book down. Ann Major kept me in the dark as to the culprit. The ending was a shocker. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

So happy to have found Ms. Majors again. I love a good romance. I love a mystery. Combine them and I'm in all the way! Jack was freed from prison for a crime he really didn't commit. The murder of his wife. That same wife he is out to bring home for their daughter and her mother, the family matriarch and ranch owner. When he tracks her down, it's with a new face and new personality or is it? Trust is something he doesn't give and especially to this woman who cheated and ran leaving him paying for her crime. Bronte, AKA Chantel, has had a sad life she wasn't sure she wanted to continue when an accident made her realize she did want to live despite it all including a badly damaged face. She thought she was given another chance when a famous surgeon promised to make her beautiful. Little did she know the price wasn't monetary but steep none-the-less. Jack can't understand the changes in the hateful woman. He can't understand his draw to her and her to him. What happened? No time to figure it out before a killer makes another attempt on her life. He won't let her die. But can he protect her and live through it? I'm pretty good a figuring out the bad-guys and I have to say I didn't have any idea. This one will keep you in suspense, in dislike and love for the characters and the deal they have been dealt. You will cheer for them and want to smack them. One thing that is not going to vacillate--the reading enjoyment. cover to cover you will love the story and want that elusive HEA. This golden find--Ann Major's books--will keep me coming back for more. A strong recommend from me. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

A suspenseful and touching tale! This was a wonderful piece of romantic suspense! The book starts out with the author showing you what paths each characters' life is on and then everything comes together with a truly interesting storyline once their paths cross! It had a nice pace to it and definitely had me reading through it in one sitting to see how everything turns out! I was surprised!!! Really enjoyed Jack and Bronte's story! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Excellent story. Intrigue, steam and a touch of romance. The animosity became a little much in spots, but the mystery balanced the story. Good read. Worth the time spent.
