At times you almost forget it is written in the present. It has the sense of the old gothic novel. So much is happening att Hallstead house but who is behind it. The ending willsurprise you.

I loved this book, it has a great plot and mystery to it. It has been awhile since I read a book that held me till the end , making you guess who it might be. There was one character I wanted to beat up in the book, lol, but in the end the character turned out not being so bad. I would recommend this to all mystery readers .

I enjoyed this from the first page to the last. It takes place on the St. Lawrence River, Thousand Islands, NY. One thing I enjoy is looking up some of the places they visit in the book and look on the web. Makes my reading so much more interesting. Mystery, romance and history of the Thousand Islands. Great read for the summer!

I really enjoyed the setting of this mystery. I know nothing about the St. Lawrence river islands so enjoyed the descriptions of the lands. The mystery was just OK, nothing too dramatic. I would try this author again.

Thanks Amy Trade, I loved your other book and this one was simply delightful. Its the first mystery book that I can remember being set in the Thousand Islands. Since I live in Central NY, Syracuse......it was a pleasure to read about an area I know and to be transported and "live" on the island with Alex and the rest. Thanks for the adventure. Can't wait for your next novel.

I really enjoyed this book! It kept me guessing and turning pages. Mystery mixed with a little bit of chaste romance. It kind of reminded me of Victoria Holt mysteries. Loved it!

I really did enjoy this book. It reminds me of a good Gothic romance. I did not give it a 5 only because in some places the author tended to ramble a bit. The book could have been shorter because of this. However, I did like the mystery and light romance.

Great storyline, great writing. I really enjoyed being transported to the Thousand Islands, immersing myself in the area as well as the story. I couldn't guess the outcome, which kept me on the seat of my pants through the end. Very enjoyable read. Look forward to future books by Amy Reade.

Read until page 70, waiting for something to happen. Well, nothing did. Skipped to the last chapter to see "who done it". About 203 pages. Don't bother.

I wouldn't recommend for those who like the author to paint a picture using descriptive language. Feels very rushed throughout and seems like the work of a new author.

Macy has been referred to an island to care for an elderly patient. Someone doesn't want her there. But why. With twist and turns it took alittle bit to get into it.after you do pretty good. Had it figured out before the end. Some parts dont seem to explain, like for instance Leland and Vali why did they dislike Macy so much to try to intimidate her. Talks about the different islands and castles so much I looked them up to have better visual that my mind's eye could not see.

Didn't care for it. The story was boring at times and I didn't really like the characters all that much. On a positive note the setting was nice. It was interesting to learn about some of the islands that make up the thousand islands.

Plot was interesting including a twist I didn't see coming! Sometimes it was a little slow but interesting all the way through. The author developed very interesting characters as well as a mystery that kept me intriqued.

I skimmed the book trying to get done as fast as possible.
