A lot of people make smoothies because it's basically like a liquid popsicle. However, for me and my family, we use them as a chance to get the extra nutrition that our body needs. For that reason, I love how each smoothie recipe is labeled for its health benefits. From anti-aging to immunity boost to meal swap, it's an easy way to navigate and decide what smoothie to make based on your current needs. It also has a very informative chart letting you know superfood doses per smoothie, as well as superfood combinations for optimal taste. Using this chart prevents the oh so common mistake of adding too much of one ingredient. Eyeballing doesn't seem like a bad idea until your smoothie is undrinkable. The chapters are organized by superfood: Common Berries, Bananas, Dark Leafy Greens, etc. This makes it very easy to navigate. The photos are minimal. but really, how many pictures of smoothies do you really need? Each recipe has an educational blurb at the beginning highlighting one of the ingredients and the benefits. All of the recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are readily available at your local grocer. Nutritional breakdown is also available. There is a "Power Up!" option that recommends an additional superfood add-in for an extra boost of nutrients. We have tried a handful of the smoothies and they have all turned out amazing. Our favorites so far have been the Blueberry-Kale-Pom Antioxidant Kick and the Seductive Green Goddess. I highly recommend this book for parents that struggle to get their kids to eat the proper amount of fruits and veggies. Make it a fun experience and let them help you prepare the smoothie. Not a liquid fan? Try pouring the smoothie into popsicle molds for a "special" treat and they will be none the wiser. I definitely intend on purchasing a physical copy for myself. Not only does it offer tasty recipes but also tips on how to store, find, substitute, your fruits and veggies. Complete with nutritional value, superfoods in every recipe and the per serving information. Loved it and put it on my to buy list!
