Overview

Sin by Robert Hughes

Two centuries before Blackbeard or Morgan, the Caribbean is an unknown factor to Europeans. On the eve of the Conquistador invasion, only a few runaway slaves and castaways share the lands with the native inhabitants. Amongst these is Sin, reaver, plunderer, wanderer, seeking adventures and resisting her implacable enemy, the expanding Astorian Empire. This collection chronicles her emergence as a youth to become the direst warrior of her epoch. Raised in a swaggering, lustful, violent world, Sin’s tale is both arousing and repulsive, ghastly, grueling, and exhilarating. Daunted neither by torture nor demonic perdition, Sin defies what no other woman (or man) dare confront, pitting her courage against all challenges, prepared to fall in battle or to rise triumphant.

About the Author

Robert Hughes has been teaching Literature and Composition for 30 years. The interest which informs his work involves identity in relation to the environment. As Hughes says, words, also, make up much of our environment, as do our own actions. The creating of worded works effects (not affects) our environmental identity. Indeed (Hughes notes) McLuhan makes the point that our environment remains for the most part invisible and inaccessible. Hughes tries to make it audible. This effort to investigate and embody identity itself frequently expresses itself in humour and whimsy, but is no less sincere for that. For more about Robert Hughes, visit bodywisdom.press.

I was given a copy for my honest review. I have been a fan of Michelle Hughes long before I called her friend. I have read everything she has out and I am never disappointed. Sin is amazing. He is flawed and he is hard. He is sexy as hell but he is not what I consider your normal book boyfriend. He is edgy and dirty and I love it! Anya is innocent but not annoying about it. This book was about a college student that wants to be able to pay her bills so her friend gets her a job waiting tables at a strip club. When Anya runs into money troubles and wants to dance to make more cash, the steaminess hits the fan. There is nothing sexier than dancing with an incredible dancer and feeling the way your bodies move together. Sin teaches Anya everything she needs to know and a few things he wants her to know. This book is hot and spicy! If you are like me and like naughtiness in your books, you can't go wrong with Sin.

Loved this story and loved Sin even more. The only reason I give 4 and not 5 stars is because this story could have been drawn out more. I feel like there is so much more there for these characters. But I did love it and will read more by this author!! Happy Reading :)
