With over 450,000 copies sold, this book is arguably the best book of its kind. What's it useful for? Mainly to help the reader (from the weekend athlete to the athletic trainer to the professional bodybuilder) figure out what exercises work what muscles. It's neatly divided up into sections (arms, shoulders, chest, back, etc.), so all you really have to do is flip to one of these sections and it will have detailed pictures of various exercises and exactly which muscles are involved. A great reference to keep have around, I give it five stars easy. Readers who lift weights regularly might also be interested "Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff" to avoid shoulder problems a lot of lifters eventually get.

I first saw this book in the gym I worked out in when I went to college.  Wow.  I could not believe the insight this book has.  This book will motivate any athletic performer with new goals.  Best workout book hands down must get.

I like the illustrations of the forms to use when doing the exercises. The coloring of the isolated muscles is helpful. The book is so handy that people new to weight training can understand it.The book is practical for setting up long term work out plans. Best book of its kind, I have seen.

My son and I have used this book to develop a strength training plan. This very detailed and comprehensive book provides suggested exercises to work each muscle group in the body. The detailed dsrawings provide an excellent understanding of which muscles are being worked and the descriptions of the exercises ensures proper form when performing them. There are also excellent writeups on potential injuries associated with the exercises and muscle groups. This is an excellent book for weight training whether being used by the beginner or the advanced individual.

Not at all your typical coffee table quality book, this is simply one of the clearest texts available for study of muscular-skeletal anatomy and muscle group function. Intelligently designed, very inexpensive, and loaded with beautifully drafted illustrations, this book stands alone among the many similar books in print.
