Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain Series #2) by Kristen Ashley

Welcome to New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley's Colorado Mountain Series, where friends become family and everyone deserves a second chance.

When you lose everything, anything is possible.

Lauren Grahame needs a whole new life. A simpler life. After leaving her cheating husband, she moves to Carnal, Colorado, takes a job as a waitress, and realizes she might have finally found the hometown she'd been searching for. Except things are about to get a lot more complicated . . .

Lauren's fresh start does not include her growing feelings for her boss, Tate Jackson. She'll take the new friends, the new job, not to mention the incredible banana bread from the local coffee shop, but love is not on the agenda.

However, the people of Carnal know chemistry when they see it, and they're not about to let Tate and Lauren miss their chance.

About the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake.

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book and that the author let me watch them grow. Some of the story stagnated, but the end was worth it. I would so totally live in the world kristen ashley created. Makes me want to pack up and find my own Carnal somewhere.

The story, although long and some parts unnecessary, is well thought out. I got bored having to read about every detail of her outfit and things like that. I also got very frustrated with the way every sentence seemed to be missing a critical word in it. I know that you want to give your characters their own twist, but the majority of people in the world wouldn't skip a word, making almost every time they opened their mouth an incomplete sentence, so it got very annoying. But the characters were pretty solid and the surrounding storyline was very good.

One of my favorites from Kristen Ashley. I liked it as much as Mistery Man and Motorcycle Man, my favorites from her too. I'll definitely read thesebooks from her again.

How refreshing. I read the 1st in the series. The Gamble and fell in love with the story writing. I was not disappointed in Sweet Dreams. Fun characters and sexy sexy Tate makes me want to be a biker babe. I love how the author tells the story from only Laurens view. Its nice not bouncing from character to character as most love stories do. This story is like watching my favorite series with her very detailed story telling. Over 1400 pages of sexy fun. I wish she would continue the story with some of the other characters like Wood. Can't wait to read the next.

I've read her Rock Chick series, Mystery Man series, & Chaos biker series, and enjoyed all 3 series. Its nice to see an Author who believes in the written word--her stories are over 400 pages long---and each and every page is filled with fun, descriptive, enjoyable and totally entertaining people, situations and all out everything you could ask for in a good story. This is the first book in the Montana series that I've read, didn't know it was not the first in the series until I was already into it, but luckly they seem to be stand alone style so I hope it does not matter what order they are read in. Lol. Very good story, highly reccommend it!

A woman made to feel less so a womanizer could feel better. Lauren is confronted about his affair, after all so-called friends knew. Eventually, she drives into Carnal, CO. meeting some good people, she starts working at a bar, and meets Tate. An injured football star ex-policeman. Now he's a bounty hunter / bar owner. This part of Kristen Ashley's Colorado Mountain series with characters recurring, you'll want to read again and again. through out. Great read you'll want to read again.

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 3 Narration 4 Story 3 At just under 700 pages or 25 hours listening time, these are stories to get lost in, and without the need (at least in the first two) to read in order, you can grab these for your vacation listens, perfect for beach or travel. In this story we meet Lauren. After discovering her husband is a cheater, nothing could be worse except the fact that it is her best friend was the one he chose. Yeah – major hit to the confidence there. So, Lauren packed her things and left – and after wandering about for a place to begin again, she lands in Carnal – the perfect quiet place. But she needs work, and the local bar is hiring – so in she goes. Tate is a part owner of the bar, and while they hired Lauren, he’s an utter ass with snarky side comments and a bad attitude. Let me start by saying I despise this approach in contemporary romance: bad attitude and crappy behavior to hide the ‘hurt little boy’ who then apologizes and things are ok. I expect it in historicals and give it a bit more leeway – but considering Lauren’s already damaged confidence and the treatment by her ex-husband, I was hoping for something a little bit different from the ‘I think you’re hot, and I said things I ‘didn’t mean” so forget that because I apologized and we can move on to sexy times” moments. It was a bit more than that – and as a couple, they did mostly work, but I was inclined to be hard on Tate and clench my fists when Lauren was ‘pushover easy’ for some of his antics. That being said, again I had issues here with the writing and the run-on sentences, often meandering into moments that really went nowhere, and simply added to the length, not the substance of the story. With a to frequent refrain of “I went, I did, I walked” the editing of the story needed work, and focus to make this a more manageable length for readers. However, there were engaging moments, and the story did show far more than tell, so while the story was long, it didn’t feel as if I needed to put it down frequently because I was bored. Narration is provided by Emma Taylor and she did keep each character’s voice distinct, and different, while managing to imbue them with a bit of personality, life and even humor. Even in the frequent moments of action for actions sake, she kept the listening experience engaging. With several plot twists and turns there was no overreaching with presentation tricks like pauses to signify a change, or overly pushing an emotional tone forward. I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Hachette Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I don't know how Kristen Ashley does it but I was completely captivated from page 1. Tate and Laurie were such wonderful characters- I LOVED their banter and how they pushed one another and took care of one another. Their relationship started off rocky (Tate's freaking temper) but then it became something quite swoon-worthy. When Lauren first gets into town, she talks about how she'd looked for something special her whole life and now she'd given up on it ever happening. The way KA developed this concept- and that of the something special being within characters, instead of something that happens to them- really resonated with me. I laughed throughout this book, outside of the suspenseful moments, of course. It's the kind of book you read with a smile on your face because it's such a delightful ride. I never knew what might happen next and was just fully immersed in the town of Carnal and its tight community. The mystery element added another heft and I did not see the culprit coming. I only have one minor complaint and that's how Laurie was always whispering. I suppose it's a KA tic but the repetitiveness got to me and I also didn't think it fit the character. Speaking softly sometimes, yes. But excessive whispering? No. One thing I especially loved was how Laurie's sleep problems factored into the plot and what it ultimately meant in her relationships. As a lifelong troubled sleeper, I related and it also made me wonder if I might sleep through the night once my Tate comes along. A girl can dream.

I'm only into this book the first 50 pages and already love it! Love it so much I'm pulling myself away from it to write this review! Love that the female lead is not in her 20's! Love the characters, dialogue and chemistry! A really great read!!!

I have been reading romance novels since I was a teenager. There is only a select few that I would consider my absolute favorites and Sweet Dreams is one of them. I love the chemistry between the main characters, the setting, the humor, the drama, the love, and the suspense. I love it so much, I've re-read it several times and it's still is one of my all time favorites. Kristen Ashley has a gift for writing moving romantic stories. She so good that I can't wait to read the next story. Her books are always on my wishlist. Thank You Kristin. Your stories are fantastic!

KA's imagination and story lines are like no other's. No two are the same and this book sucks you in from start to finish. Seems like you're living in the same town and know the characters...watching the story unfold right along with them.
