In 1942, 25,000 young women applied to join the Women's
Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs), but few were accepted.
They fought male hostility, poor equipment and official
disdain to become pilots. They piloted fighters and heavy
bombers, but were specifically forbidden to fly overseas.

Kansas farm girl SALLY HANSEN realizes her childhood
dream to become an aviator and fly the Atlantic when,
secretly, she and her pilot husband ferry a Liberator bomber
