The ebook version is missing chunks from the original book. I love the story but I know there was more interact between the two characters--and I have the paperback version to prove it.

Tatiana and Alexander Paullina Simons Avon, Jun 29 2010, $15.99 ISBN: 9780061987465 In 1941 eighteen year old Tatiana Metanova and Red Army Officer Alexander Belov met and fell in love (see The Bronze Horseman). She becomes pregnant while he goes off to fight Hitler's army. Tatiana believes her beloved died so as a single mom widow manages to get to Ellis Island via Scandinavia and the across the Atlantic. Tatiana changes her name to Jane Barrington and gets a position as a nurse on Ellis Island while also raising her son Anthony, but misses her beloved Alexander Meanwhile Stalin's Secret Police arrests Alexander who is accused of being a traitor. He is sentenced to die. He looks back ironically to when his father, a communist believer, left a nice middle class existence in America to relocate the family in Stalin's impoverished Russia. However, those thoughts add to his pain. Only remembering his beloved Tatiana keeps him going through the torture and the expectation of death. The sequel to The Bronze Horseman changes perspective from Tatiana's vivid descriptions of the horrors of war especially the Battle of Leningrad with her one light being Alexander; to his bleak tale of all's deadly on the German front especially his only stay of execution being the lead of a suicide mission with his one light being Tatiana. The terrific story line uses the atrocities of war as the backdrop to the human spirit when love can overcome so much. Tatiana and Alexander is a love story that tugs at the heartstrings. All three trilogy books were wonderful! She is an excellent writer and easy to read and holds your interest throughout the book. I would reccomend this book to everyone.

One of the best trilogies I have read in a long time. Its followed by The Summer Garden, but not available at BN. You will have to get it from Amazon or ebay.

A great sequel to "The Bronze Horseman" . After reading the Bronze Horseman I didn't want the story to end so I bought Tatiana & Alexander and was not disappointed.

I so loved this book! I am so glad i bought these books! It makes you feel like you are a part of the story, like you're standing watching and feeling and smelling everything that happens. The pain and suffering, Paullina is great author !I will look for more books by her.

I waited for this book to come out in June after reading The Bronze Horseman twice, cover to cover in April. This book definitely was great, but the hero and heroine were separated most of the story, while only having maybe 100 pages of adventure, stress, and love together. It was a long drawn-out four years of separation with only a quick, too-short climax and ending. I found the author drescribed most scenes with passive verbs rather than show us the setting and have us feel the emotions of Tatiana and Alexander. My favorite is still the first. I actually went out and read Pushkin's narrative poem, The Bronze Horseman. :)

I wasn't sure what to expect with "The Bronze Horseman," and then this sequel, but I was blown away! The love story is fantastic, but the realistic portrayal of life in the Soviet Union during World War II and the failure of Communism make these books doubly great! The books are for adults, but I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Had to read this book immediately after finishing The Bronze Horseman.  I love the characters Tatiana & Alexander.  I just ordered The Summer Garden.  I can't get enough of them.

I haven't quite finsihed the book but if you like the two other books about Tatiana and Alexander this one is a must read. You have to find out what happened to them once they arrive in the United States and try to live a normal life with all their demons hanging on to them. This book is just as riveting and exciting as the first two!

“Come here.” He opens his arms. “Sit on top of me.” She obeys. “Now take your hands and place them on my face.” She obeys “Put your lips on my eyes.” She obeys “Kiss my forehead.” She obeys. “Kiss my lips.” She obeys. And obeys. “Tania...” “Shh.” “Can’t you see I’m breaking?” This installment was just as soul crushing and beautiful as the first. I was biting the tips of my fingers to keep from screaming. I ugly cried. I swooned. Just read this series! It is intense for sure and can get dark and scary, I mean it takes place in the middle of World War II, but I promise it is so incredibly beautiful.

After reading "The Bronze Horseman" I wondered if it would be as good, it is and helps explain a lot of that book before going on with the story.

I loved TBH but it took an emotional toll on me and I needed to take a SEVEN month break before I could pick up TaA. Even reading the prologue & first few pages of Chapter One, I was immediately brought back to that emotional place and had to put it down several times. That has never happened to me before and that alone is a testament to how heartbreakingly beautiful Tatiana and Alexander's story is. The book was pretty much exactly what I expected in terms of their relationship. Tatiana's faith, courage & determination was beautiful to watch. There is a subject that I won't spoil but I just don't see why it was written or the purpose it served. Maybe I can look back later & understand. I am excited to find out how their story ends but I'm not ready to say goodbye. If I could read any series again for the first time I think this would be it. - We walk alone through this world, but if we're lucky, we have a moment of belonging to something, to someone that sustains us through a lifetime of loneliness.

Not quite as good as the first but a great read!!!!

This was a good book, but as a sequel to The Bronze Horseman it reviewed material from that book a little too much. And as in The Bronze Horseman, there are too many pages devoted to their love making. That said, it is a great story and I enjoyed it very much. However, just as pages were missing from The Bronze Horseman, the Epilogue was missing from the ebook. It's a big part in finishing the story. I borrowed the book from our public library and read it.
