I love how it feels like she's talking to me as if we are the best of friends just exchanging information. The tone of the book made me feel very comfortable and engaged into keep on reading. While there's science in there, she doesn't go crazy on scientific jargon, but rather supplies the information in a simple manner. I turn 30 this year and was looking for some changes to make and her book definitely inspired me to make those changes for the better. The day after reading her book I went straight to the supermarket and did an overhaul of the food I know I should be eating.

If a class was required before taking ownership of a woman's body, Cameron Diaz's "The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways To Love Your Amazing Body" would be the textbook. While I can't say I learned a ton from this book, I did enjoy reading it and I think it's perfect for teens and women in the 20s to read. It's not a diet book or even a standard beauty book. It's more of a how-to book on your body -- how it works, how it works best and how to embrace the principles of eating well and exercising. Cameron Diaz (with Sandra Bark) writes with so much enthusiasm, you can't but love the body you're in. She in inordinately excited about protein and water, and after reading Chapter 15's "The Magic of Movement" you won't be able to sit down to continue to read. Other people might find her sappy or over-the-top, but honestly, this is Cameron Diaz -- what did you expect? The final section is a prolonged cheerleading session which I found went on too long. But on the other hand, I've adopted one of her seems-obvious-in-retrospect suggestions: Drink more water in the morning. I exercise in the morning on an empty stomach (which I've been told numerous times I'm not supposed to do) but I also rarely drink water before my workout? Why? Exactly? I have no good reason, and Diaz makes a good case for how dehydrated my body is after 8 hours of sleep. Here's another thing to love about this book: The hardcover edition is beautifully made and worth investing in. It's 7.5-by-9.5, so it's hefty without being awkward, and the paper is top quality with several full-color photos. The photography of Diaz has inspired me into looking to a professional photo shoot; Diaz is stunning at 41. If you're looking for a book that inspires positive thinking and action when it comes to your body rather than a diet book that makes lists of off-limits foods and prescribes hours of complicated exercises, this is it.

Truly, I love this book. I began a journey of overhauling my nutrition and eating habits a few months ago, and have never felt better. This book really hammers home what I've learned just by doing, as well as opened my eyes as to what exactly has been changing in my body (and mind) for the better. I just started reading this book last night, and I'm already committed to making more positive changes from what I've read. I've recommended it to all my friends, I ordered a copy for my mother.

This book was about HEALTH not how to get skinny. She does a great job explaining the science. I would have liked some recipes!

I love this book! Everyone should read it, not just women but men too. It can change your life by simply having the necessary knowledge to actually FEED your body what it needs. I am a huge Jillian Michaels fan so I was already on the road to healthy living, but this book does wonders in the way of explaining WHY you need the food you need and WHAT kind of foods you need.

The reason i got Cameron's "The Body Book" - besides her being an amazing actor and beautiful woman with a perfect body - it appears you can trust her recommendations.   For 2 days that i was reading her book, it felt like my best friend - after learning VERY important and useful information - locked me in my room, and wouldn't agreed to let me out till she: Not just reminds me all those facts that we all already know << ..."you are what you eat"… or "ketchup is not a tomato" .. or " sausage is not meet" >> BUT makes sure I actually use it next time i buy groceries or prepare the meal !!! We all say how crazy and sad, that a lot of people suffer from obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol…… BUT then order pizza  and say "One pizza a month won't hurt". And next day - "McDonalds only once a month won't hurt…   I LOVE how Cameron explains the process of food [from how the food is "born" and which minerals it has -> to  how manufactures and factories modify them -> and what exactly is left and going to our body] - she uses a little bit of chemistry, physics, history and her own experience!!   This book is not for people , who has a nutrients test tomorrow or who wants a "2 weeks diet book.  Its for people, who want to understand what they eat and how its going to make them feel in a minute or in 10 years. Its also for people, who've ever eaten the whole bowl of pasta and in an hour felt tired and hungry again

This is a wonderful book.  Cameron Diaz has provided excellent information for anyone at any age.  Her book makes sense and far exceeds any diet book.   Read it.  You'll enjoy it and it just may change your life.

Cameron really did her research on this book. I have learned a lot about food and nutrition that has surprised me, and she explains where some of these ideas about healthy living originated. It is a good motivational book to get you started on a healthier path. Still reading, but think she has done a good job with this one.

I'm 65 years old and it's one of the top 10 books I've ever read. I say this because I read a reviewer state on this  AND another website that it's best for teens. Respectfully, I have a completely different opinion. It is only one  of two books on health that have ever had a profound effect on my life. (The other was called, "The Book  of Macrobiotics"…many years ago). Granted, I'm not delving into diet books but like others, was curious to know the current information regarding health and bodies and decided she'd have access to the best most current ways out there. This is NOT A DIET book, friends. It's a lifestyle book (much more my kind of thing anyway, you know?). It's riddled with information, yes, and ways she's found to deal with staying healthy and wise. It's good to know HOW to keep my brains working at their optimum, how to keep getting better, what works for her, how to find out what's right for me, and just plain how to "get there from here". She's a surprising motivational writer and having just finished the book less than an hour ago I feel like I'm armed with everything I need to go forward and be the best "me" .I've already recommended it to many of my friends who've felt the same way. This young lady can write! (oh, and I purchased the audio as well for listening in the car as I travel around…very well put together!). Five stars for this book. What a generous sharing of all she's learned. I'm hoping that she keeps writing more. I don't see that many movies  but I DO read!

I love this book. I have been on Weight Watchers for 2 years and this is the boost I needed. Cameron's book is very educational and anyone looking to get healthy should check this book out. It is not a diet. It is a life style change. That is the only way to lose weight. That is what this book is about. Love this book and recommend it to all my friends!

This is an abdolute MUST read for the all too many women who are constantly fighting their hunger, counting calories, and hating the bodies they're in. Cameron's writing is easy to relate to and full of so much vauable information that I can't believe I missed in all my years of school.

This was not what I expected. It may be good book for someone that wants to learn some medical definitions of your body. I'm already familiar with that info. I was expecting more about her routine. I wanted to know her meal plans, her exercise routine. For me there was just too much stuff in there that was not needed. Everyone is different so it may be for you. The online sample does not show enough. Go to the store and look at the book before purchasing.

This is one of the best books I've read in years. She breaks everything down and makes it very easy to understand. So much of what she's discussed I've already implemented in my life

Love this book!! It is amazing! Very insightful and important information. She is super honesty and it feels as if she is just having a conversation with you. I finished half the book in one sitting (which says a lot because I am not a fast reader at all, but I couldnt put it down). She simplifies the facts and puts it in to real action and suggestions. She has done her research and it shows. It isnt about her life, its about how all of our bodies work and how to maximize what we put in and get out of them.

This book didn't tell me anything that I already didn't know but it is an easy, light read that helps to reinforce your motivation to live a healthy life. I felt that it is meant more for younger women and not someone like me in my fifties.
