Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900–2002) is widely recognized as the leading exponent of philosophical hermeneutics. About the Author

Robert J. Dostal is Rufus M. Jones Professor of Philosophy at Bryn Mawr College. He is author of Gadamer: Between Phenomenology and Dialectic (forthcoming) and editor of Phenomenology on Kant, German Idealism, Hermeneutics, and Logic (with O.K. Wiegand, L. Embree, J.
