I'd never heard of this author before I bought this book, and truthfully I only picked it up because they feature Sherlock Holmes. It's a great read for those interested in short stories, not a bad showing of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H Watson either, and a good way to be introduced into the Newbury & Hobbes series (which I HIGHLY recommend you read - The Affinity Bridge is the first - you'll thank me later). All in all, not a bad book, great stepping stone to the other books.
