I vowed to try every recipe in this book. I have the majority of all the things in my frig or cabinets already. This book gives my the opportunity to try new and exciting foods. Can't wait to get started. Thanks foodnetwork!

I am about 50/50 on this cookbook. I like it but I don’t think it would be the first one I’d grab. It is well written but there is just something about I don’t connect with. Read on to find out more! The Chopped cookbook is definitely a unique book. One complaint I had about this cookbook was it claims to have recipes that use ordinary cabinet ingredients but I found that most of the ingredients wouldn’t be an everyday staple. I was really disappointed in that fact. However, the recipes do look and sound very appetizing. There were multiple recipes that I put on my list to try. I do like how they give you recipes for sauces and salad dressings. If you like weird combinations then this is a cookbook for you. I love the cover and backing. The colors and font used makes the book really stand out. It is hardback which I really love. The book is also a good size which makes for the font on the inside to be a good size; you won’t have to squint to see the words or photographs. The photographs were very high quality and truly showed off the food it was representing. I would have loved if every recipe had a photograph because they are just so bizarre that you have to see a picture of it! Like previous cookbooks I have recently been reviewing, this cookbook also features a different section for each food. It also sports an Index. This cookbook has 188 recipes which I think is a pretty good amount for a cookbook. You usually don’t find that many recipes in a cookbook. Overall, I don’t know if I would buy this cookbook for myself. I am up in the air about it. It is a very well put together cookbook and the pages look very elegant, but, I am just not a big fan on weird combinations. However, if you enjoy the show on Food Network, then you would probably like their cookbook. The stuff you see on the TV show shine through on this cookbook. One way to know if you’d like the cookbook is to watch the show which comes on the Food Network on Tuesdays 10|9C. The Chopped Cookbook helps answer that familiar question: what can I make for dinner with the ingredients I already have? Following the theme of the Food Network show "Chopped," this book has recipes and guides that show you how to "use what you've got to cook something great." I found the how-to guides especially helpful. I feel more confident inventing my own recipes when I can refer to the tables and lists of ingredients for pan sauces, vinaigrettes, vegetables, fish and other foods. My family already has favorite recipes from the book, including the Coconut Creamed Corn, Slow-Cooked Salmon With Olive Breadcrumb Sprinkle, and the Buttery Roasted Potatoes With Wilted Spinach.   The recipes in "The Chopped Cookbook" inspire me to be creative and try new ingredient combinations. I highly recommend "The Chopped Cookbook," especially if you are looking for a book that includes great recipes as well as new insights into cooking.  I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. Nutshell: Have you ever seen Chopped on the Food Network? This book revolves around the show, pairing items together to make a meal. Items that you will most likely find in your pantry. But think of your pantry like the baskets the chef's open on the tv show. Sometimes quirky items, like on the show, but mostly normal, every day items. Pro's: I loved this cookbook. Many pages are ear-marked of recipes I would like to try. Each chapter also has pages of suggestions of quick put-together's, based on the subject of the chapter. Like different pan sauces, playing with pasta, and different types of grains and how to cook them, just to give a few examples. I also really liked the bright, colorful pictures and easy to follow steps. Con's: Some recipes were a bit "out there" and I wouldn't necessarily make for my family. Some items I can't find here in Michigan (like flat iron steak), so learning what to substitute made it a bit challenging, but a good learning experience.Waterbrook Multnomah sent me this complimentary copy to review for them. "The Chopped Cookbook" from The Food Network is easily my favorite cookbook. I can't even count the number of times I stare into the refrigerator or pantry wondering, "What can I make for dinner with these ingredients?" With "The Chopped Cookbook", I have an answer! This cookbook is filled with delicious recipes for every meal, with a variety of ingredients that in most cases I already have in my home. Recipes in this cookbook are relatively simple, and even the ingredient lists are usually very simple with herbs and spices that I already have in my spice rack. I was impressed with the recipes in this book, and how beautifully the foods turn out - many of these recipes look like they were created by a chef in a restaurant. I never knew such delicious foods could be created with such simple ingredients and basic ingredients!! One other neat feature of this cookbook is that there is a variety in the recipes that are in this cookbook. It doesn't just reflect American food/Italian food/Asian food, but it balances many different genres of food so that there is a huge variety in the meals! I seriously am so excited to try almost every recipe in this book - this cookbook has recipes for everything - chicken, beef, fish, salads, vegetables, and even desserts! I love this cookbook, and I would highly recommend it to any home cook who might be looking for some new and delicious ideas for meal time.

The Chopped Cookbook published by Clarkson Porter After reading through this cookbook, I've gotten a new respect for authors of recipes. You never really consider how difficult it can be to put recipes together, especially when you put together one that only includes ingredients that would be in the average person's refrigerator. That's what all of the authors of the recipes in this book did and it turned out phenomenal. While I was reading through this cookbook and checking out the recipes I was mentally going through what I had in my kitchen and I realized that right then and there I could have made several of the recipes in the book. I absolutely love to cook, but one of the biggest problems is that sometimes I can't think of something to make with the items I already have. That's where the The Chopped Cookbook comes into play. There were so many recipes that I just can't wait to try. The first recipe that I'm dying to try is the Spinach and Artichoke Dip Mac and Cheese (p. 21). I adore spinach and artichoke dip and the thought of making mac and cheese out of it absolutely blows my mind. It sounds like an amazing idea and something that I would definitely love (especially on a day when I'm in need of comfort food). Another that I can't wait to try is the Warm Salted Caramel Banana Pudding (p. 225). I'm not very big into bananas but this just seems so delicious. I think that when you pair them with caramel and pudding that you can't lose. Also, I think that this would be a great recipe to learn how to make pudding (which is something I've wanted to figure out for a while). All in all, I think that this is a great cookbook. It's especially great for those of us who get a cooking block, where we've got ingredients but can't figure out what to do with them. Make sure to check it out. I have been a fan of Chopped since it's first episode. The Chopped Cookbook encourages the home cook to use whatever you have in your refrigerator and pantry to create a meal for your family. The hardback cover is filled with large beautiful photos of the completed recipe as well as additional tips tucked within the step-by-step directions. Whether you are an experienced cook, as myself, or a novice in the kitchen, this cookbook needs to be in your home. Because it encourages creativity, and suggests ingredient substitutions, you will return to The Chopped Cookbook again and again to make a recipe or use it to springboard into your own recipe using the many ideas suggested throughout. Because the show is filmed with a fully stocked pantry, there are some ingredients that will not be in your kitchen. The authors, in those instances, have offered excellent common substitutions, which you should have in your pantry. As one who begins dinner preparation at the time most families are sitting down to supper, I have found this cookbook to be a wonderful addition to my kitchen to prepare quick delicious dinners. The recipes have all been tested and judged by cooks you have grown to love and trust week after week on the Food Network. So treat yourself to a new cookbook, and pick up a few copies for your friends

After seeing all the hype, I ordered this book. I was disappointed at the recipes and knew I would never attempt to make any of them! The illustrations were nice, but not worth the cost of the book. The show is better! I returned the book . Save your money.

As an avid fan of the hit show Chopped, I was ecstatic to hear that this book was in the works. Since having it, I have been overjoyed. Rather than send you out to find a bunch of new/rarely used ingredients, this book allows you to use those odd leftovers already in your kitchen, (and if you are a foodie you definitely have a few). Even so, most of the ingredients are still able to be substituted. I have already prepared 4 different dishes from this book, and look to it at least twice a week for new ideas. If you like to cook, and experiment in the kitchen, you can hardly find a better investment.

I have found a winner with this cookbook. I have made six recipes that I have found in this book so far. Everyone has been very fast to make and very yummy. I especially liked the Skirt Steak with Tomato Sauce and buttered noodles. It was a BIG hit with the kids and my hubby.
