I loved this book. It was well written and rang true. Being a widow myself I can’t imagine a worse scenario than the premise of this book. Well done!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. If I had to sum up my feeling about this book, I would have to say it is "not quite..." It is not quite suspenseful - I figured out the "secret" that Dylan alludes to at the beginning of the book within the first couple of chapters. The ending does not end up where I thought it would, but truthfully, I didn't feel any building suspense. It left me feeling like it was "not quite" finished at the end; there were several things that were not really wrapped up. The dual storyline has the reader going back and forth between the present day, and also looking back on Dylan's relationship with James and their last day together, but does not take you up to what actually happened. I did not really connect with Jacks - I don't have much of an idea who she is other than someone who recently lost her husband, and had in the past omitted telling her husband an important fact, which drove a wedge into their relationship. Obviously, James and Dylan were being deceitful, so it was hard to justify their actions and develop a connection to them. Nick seemed like an extraneous character. As a result, I could not find myself getting very invested in their stories. I wanted to like this, I just have not been able to get there...

I received a copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved the Good Widow. I plan to look for more books by Liz & LIsa. It was a great love story and very realistic. This book held my interest from start to finish. The first half I felt like I was reading a Nicholas Sparks romance then towards the end it got much more suspenseful. This was a great beach book.

*2.5 stars Well, to be honest, I didn't enjoy this like so many others have. After seeing great reviews from some of my Goodreads friends, I quickly requested this from Netgalley. I was hoping for a great suspense novel--I've been in such a thriller reading mood lately, but this did not live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, I thought this was well-written and very readable. There's no doubt that I will be reading more from these two authors. I'm just not sure it will be another suspense book. They did say this was their first foray into the mystery genre, so I definitely see potential. I wouldn't even classify this as a suspense novel or a mystery. Only the last 15% was "suspenseful". Through most of the novel you follow Jacks, who just found out that her husband died with another woman. The fiance of the woman contacts Jacks and asks her to go to where they both died to find closure. So off to Hawaii they go. I loved that the book took place in Hawaii! How I wish to go back someday. Anyway, so most of the book you follow these two make their way through the final steps of the deceased. I don't know if this was suppose to be a romance, a suspense novel, or something in between? Like I said, this was readable but I was looking to escape into a suspenseful book and that's just not what I got. So I finished reading this a little disappointed and underwhelmed. **Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The blurbs were right on this one. There is suspense. Unfortunately, it is 80% of the way into this book. Along the way, Jacks and Nick trace back their lives and review what really happened and why their respective others cheated on them. A L.O.N.G. drawn out process that eventually led to the highly advertised suspense. I think that the book was well written, however, I was looking for more of a suspense book, not a book looking for feeling involving being cheated on and how I would feel if it happened to me. The suspense part was very, very good and very creepy. The feelings part was also very good, just not what I expected. Thanks to Lake Union Publishing and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I have to admit when I first started reading this book it reminded me a lot of another book. The further I got into the story the less it made me think of the other book but I have to admit that I couldn't get that thought out of my head... that I felt like I've read this story already. I'm not the biggest fan of multiple points of view and even less of multiple time periods in a book. So I struggled with that format for a little bit. Then once I passed a certain point in the book (I won't spoil it for you) I ignored the world and didn't put the book down until after I was finished. I had to know the ending!!! I wasn't as shocked as some readers have been. I had a feeling something fishy was going on. I didn't predict the exact ending but I knew something wasn't right.

Wow Just WOW!!! What an amazing roller coaster keep you guessing until the end book! It is an ignore your family until you finish book!!! Jacks's husband is killed in an accident and she has to figure out how to move on with her life. As she is trying to put her life back together, many secrets come to light about her husband and it shocks Jacks to her core. I truly loved this book and couldn't put it down until the end. And the ending? WOWZA!!!!! Just when you *think* you have things figured out, another twist and turn!!! This is an amazing story of love, loss, betrayals, and secrets! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing me an ARC for an honest review.
