The humanity of others

How can we talk about humanity today? Starting from an anthropological reading of Montaigne, this book addresses this question through the concept of diversity within a single humanity: the capacity to perceive and judge makes humanity a single species. Reading Montaigne allows for a move toward recognizing the "humanity of others," the humanity of all who resisted slavery, coercion in religion, colonialism, and the Inquisition.
