The body lying on a cold steel slab bears all the hallmarks of the Chicago Butcher. There’s a cruel slash across her throat, deep enough to sever the carotid artery, and a small crescent carved into her right breast. Her delicate features are painfully familiar to Ash Marcel, once a rising star in the Chicago PD. But though the victim resembles his former fiancée, Remi Walsh, he knows it’s not her.
Though Remi escaped a serial killer five years ago, her father died trying to save her. Grief and guilt caused her to pull away from the man she loved. Now Ash is back in her life, insisting that Remi is still in danger.
Someone is targeting women who look just like Remi. With or without a badge, Ash intends to unmask the Butcher. But the killer isn’t playing games any longer. He’s moving in, ready to finish what he started, and prove there’s nothing more terrifying than a killer’s obsession . . .

Remi escaped a serial killer and unfortunately her father died trying to save her....or is that what really happened? A good thriller is always having the unexpected happen in a story and that is definitely what this author has done! I thought it was going to be a simple book about another serial killer and the girl that got away well this was not that story . I was pleasantly surprised by all the twists and not knowing until almost the end the full story of what happened to Remi. Great book! Lots of thrills and Remi is a great character . Loved this book . I would recommend reading !!

I have to say up front, I’m a huge fan of Alexandra Ivy’s paranormal series, so when I saw she was branching out into the mystery/thriller genre, I jumped on the chance to read them. This story follows Remi, who survived an attack by a serial killer five years earlier. Her father did not survive the encounter, but Remi is blank on what happened, her memory is gone. The aftermath of her inability to recall what happened and the stress of it all drove her and Ash apart. Now we are five years later and bodies that have been murdered and surgically enhanced to look like Remi start showing up. Ash’s brother is on the case and lets Ash know what’s going on. Ash won’t Remi face this new threat alone and returns to Chicago. The Chicago Ash left, with the woman he loved, his detective career and home behind. The story was enjoyable, with twists and turns that took a pretty shocking outcome. The Intended Victim has a pretty good suspense-filled plot. The romance was a stretch for me, since the tension was minimal with Ash’s return but overall a good read. 3.5 stars I received this copy of The Intended Victim from Kensington Books - Zebra. This is my honest and voluntary rewiew.

As with the previous three books in the Agency series, I really enjoyed The Intended Victim. This story follows Ash and Remi as they try to solve the case of a serial killer. Remi survived an attack years ago, but the killer comes back with a vengeance. Throughout the story, I had thoughts about who the killer was but did not get confirmation until the end. I like how the author writes snippets from the killer and the victim's points of view as well as the main characters. I also like how the author tends to do a healthy balance of suspense and romance in her stories. There is plenty of mystery but the romance does not seem forced or an afterthought as it does in some books. Ash and Remi's story is one of reconnected love who of course, gets their happy ending. Ash is Nate's (from book 3) brother and we meet another brother named, Jax. I imagine we will see him in a future book. The Agency is a loosely connected series. They could all be read as stand-alone books. I was given the chance to read an early copy for review.

3.5/5.0* I definitely want to delve into the first three Agency books, the fourth featured in this review, THE INTENDED VICTIM, can be easily read as a standalone. Book four, I am only guessing, picks up where book three left off, wherein Remi Walsh was targeted by a serial killer five years ago, and her Police Detective Father dies trying to save her. Grief and guilt cause Remi to pull away from her fiancé at the time, Detective Ash Marcel, who was her Fathers partner. I don’t want to get into spoiler territory, as each reader should experience this book for themselves; however, I will say based on the synopsis, I was expecting a fast-passed murder mystery, with the focus on finding a serial killer. After reading a few book blurbs for THE INTENDED VICTIM, one reviewer classified it as a ‘Pulse-raising romantic thriller’, and another as a, ‘ tale and the romance sizzles’. I don’t agree that this book is necessarily a fast-paced thriller, it is most definitely a murder mystery romance thriller with a steamy-hot scene or two of ...well, no spoilers. ;) The romance aspect of this book works well because this is book four in a series, readers of the previous three will most likely enjoy - and new readers like myself - seeing true love in the middle of what I can only describe as insanity. And, like I said, ‘a steammmy-hot scene or two!’ Though not all aspects of this book worked for me, I would like to go back and reread it now that I know who the serial is, revisiting the snippets of their mindset revealed to the reader throughout the book from the killer’s perspective. I am also looking forward to reading the first three novels in The Agency series. I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corporation for loaning me an advance eBook of THE INTENDED VICTIM in exchange for an honest review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy. Wow, did not see that coming when the name of the Butcher is finally revealed! The book keeps you in suspense as there are some twists along the way and the usual red herrings to keep you guessing. We also see more of Ash's family especially his brother, Jas. I hope this means that his book is next as he seems to need something in his life besides work! I loved when his mother calls him over and makes him eat and tells him to get away from work for a bit as he is looking "like a zombie." Remi and Ash were just so tragic as she broke off their engagement so he didn't get hurt and Ash thinks it is his fault. I liked that they got to know each other a bit more before they got personal again and especially after five years had passed, they needed to get know each other again. Lots of drama and intrigue as their romance starts at a slow pace and then all is revealed about the Butcher and they get their HEA.

The Intended Victim The Intended Victim was an engrossing, and enjoyable story. That although slow to start, soon picked up and was suspenseful and at times exciting and thrilling to read. Not to mention it had a few twists, and kept me guessing almost until the end. Plus, the characters were very likable and the romance, engaging. It also didn't overwhelm the rest of the story, which developed at a good pace and was at times truly gripping, and difficult to put down. And so, I would happily recommend it to others, particularly if you enjoy a good romantic suspense story or are a fan of the author. **I was kindly provided with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

This murder mystery will leave you gasping. I felt so bad for Remi and Ash as the murder of her father and the attempted murder of Remi five years ago shattered their lives. But now the murderer is back and more brazen than before. Remi’s life is on the line and so is Ash’s heart. This story kept me flipping pages and the identity of the murderer just floored me. This book is part of a series but can be read standalone just fine.

Ash had a good career as a cop with a loving girlfriend but that all changed when his partner went missing presumed killed and Remi was attacked. They never caught the serial killer and Ash left everything behind to start over. But he has just been told by his brother Jax that they have found Remi and it looks like the serial killer is back. Ash can't believe that she is dead and he will do whatever it takes to find the killer. Things take a turn as the dead woman isn't Remi but someone that has had surgery to look like her and now Ash knows for sure that she is in grave danger but will she allow Ash back into her life. Remi can't believe that Ash is back she has missed him but after her father's death she needed time and her guilt ate at her every day since. But does she believe that the killer is back now and that she could be the next victim? Can she allow Ash back into her life can her heart handle him again? Ash knows that he needs to start it slow with Remi and that he can find out who the killer is and hopefully find his dead partner. Will they find the answers that they are seeking and will Remi get her life back on track? Where will this leave them? A good read, never saw the killer coming. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

This is book 4 in the Agency series and it can absolutely be read as a stand alone! In it we meet Remi and Ash. Ash is a former police officer who has been drawn back to Chicago when his brother comes to tell him that his former fiance's body is in the morgue. But when he gets there, he realizes that this woman looks like her but it isn't her. And that a serial killer is back at work again. Remi escaped from a serial killer years ago but when she did, she lost everything that ever meant anything to her at the same time. And now Ash is back in her life vowing to protect her while also trying to find the person that is responsible for everything. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I was drawn in right from the start and didn't want to put it down because I wanted to know more. Towards the end it seemed a little rushed to me (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) but on a whole I definitely liked it! Remi and Ash are two characters that you can't help but like and want to see come out happy in the end. And I liked Ash's brother as well (and wouldn't mind a story with him!). There was definitely a twist to it that I didn't see coming at all!! Who I thought it was, definitely wasn't! And that made me like it even more! Another great read in this series!

THE INTENDED VICTIM is the fourth instalment in Alexandra Ivy’s contemporary, adult THE AGENCY romantic suspense series. This is former Chicago police detective / college professor Ashland ‘Ash’ Marcel, and youth center counselor Remi Walsh’s story line. THE INTENDED VICTIM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Remi and Ash) and first person (killer) THE INTENDED VICTIM follows in the wake of the possible return of a serial killer. Five years earlier Remi Walsh was the intended victim of a serial killer known as The Butcher but Remi’s call to her father, police officer Gage Walsh, resulted in the death of her father, and Remi with no memory of what happened that day. Fast forward to the present, wherein a series of murders where all of the victims have been surgically altered to look like Remi Walsh, pull Ash Marcel, Remi’s former fiancé into the investigation. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Ash and Remi, and the potential fall-out as the killer hits too close to home. Ash Marcel was destroyed the day Remi Walsh walked out of his life but Remi struggled in the aftermath of the death of her father, the attack on her life, and Ash Marcel’s obsession with finding the killer. Ash Marcel had never stopped loving our story line heroine and a change in careers meant pulling away from the life that he loved. The relationship between Remi and Ash is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people torn apart by death and destruction, and brought together by memories from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are introduced to Remi’s mother Liza, and Ash’s brother Detective Jax Marcel. There is a large list of suspects who are questioned yet remain a person of interest. THE INTENDED VICTIM is a romantic suspense thriller; a story of betrayal and obsession; family, friends, jealousy and madness. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is seductive and captivating.

A really good book that grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the very end. This second chance love story is the back drop of a serial killer storyline. Someone is killing women who look like Remi. After escaping the killer’s clutches five years ago, it looks as if he is back to finish the job. Both Rem an Ashley have been living in limbo for five years. Although they’ve moved on professionally, personally, they are stagnate. After the killings start up again the are forced to confront both the past and their feelings for each other. The love story is more about reconnecting and trusting each other with the truth, no matter how painful. Both Ash and Remi were so traumatized by events in the past, they couldn’t open up to each other the way they needed to. The killer storyline had so many hints, I’m mad at myself for not figuring it out sooner. I was on the right track, just got on the wrong train. You will enjoy this story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book from NetGalley.

Thanks goes to the publisher, via Net-Galley, for the opportunity to read and review The Intended Victim prior to publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way. The Intended Victim is a pin chilling romantic suspense that had me biting my nails until he very end. The pacing is quick, and the action scenes are heart throbbing. The writing is crisp and perfect for this book. I love a “who done it” where I really have no clue who the villain is until they are revealed in the climatic ending. Wow, just wow! Remi’s character has been running from the nightmare that occurred five years before. She has a job that fulfills her and has moved on at last. Then her ex-fiancée returns turning her safe world upside down. Feelings and emotions run high and has her questioning her decisions made after she lost her father. I could sense her turmoil and experienced her fears. Ash Marcel is a great hero, one who rushes in the safe the damsel in distress. He is determined to protect Remi from the Chicago Butcher, no matter what it takes, and if his love for her is reawakened then so be it. I loved his willingness to dive in without any thought or concern for his emotional turmoil seeing Remi again causes him. The romance between the Remi Ash is amazing. The chemistry between them is visceral and stirred me in ways I’ve not experienced in quite some time. Remi and Ash are perfect for each other. If you enjoy romantic thrillers with “sit on the edge of your seat excitement,” then you will love The Intended Victim as much as I did. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Ivy, but it will not be the last. Happy reading!

THE INTENDED VICTIM (The Agency Book #4) By Alexandra Ivy I did not realize this was a 4th in the series book, and it is certainly a stand alone as well. I will be looking up the others in the series. I have always known when I pick up a book from Alexandra Ivy I will enjoy it. She consistently writes a very satisfying story. I very much enjoyed this romantic suspense with a second chance romance. This is a suspense, filled with intrigue, mystery, chemistry and great characters. The ending was one that I did not see coming. This is a 5 star story.

The Intended Victim had me biting my nails, listening for rustling behind me and gasping for breath. The second chance romance was well done, it did not smother the pages. The relationship was reignited and steamy in the right context. A plus in my book. I love a book where the plot is enhanced with a great relationship, but does not exist because of one.. This starts of with a murder and pretty much goes full steam. I had thoughts of oh know, not them, and it wasn't. I was wrong on the butcher, thank goodness, but it was still a jaw dropping moment. Excellent suspense, excellent mystery, and still brought to light some of the troubles of today. I loved, loved, loved this book. A true 5 stars, more if I could. Thank you Alexandra Ivy, NetGalley, Kensington Books/Zebra for the arc. I voluntarily leave this review. All thought and opinions are my own and unsolicited.

The Intended Victim is another suspenseful romantic novel by Alexandra Ivy with an emphasis on the suspense and danger. The story involves a serial killer who focuses on women like the one who got away. It has a nail biting and horror element to it unlike the author’s paranormal books. The romance is great between Remi, the one victim who lived five years ago and Ash the police office who is going to stop the killer once and for all. They have a past so from that standpoint it is a second chance for them. But the murderer must be stopped first for them to have any real chance at all. This plot is tightly woven around this fact, never loosing focus. Then there is a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming. Such a great story with well developed characters. However, when I finish these all too believable contemporary suspense romances by Ms. Ivy, I can’t let the story go. So then I always want to sleep with the light on for a night or two. 4.5 Stars An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow this was a crazy wild ride. This is the 4th book in the Agency series. Remi Walsh almost died at the hands of the Chicago Butcher. Ash Marcel was a cop on the case and her fiance. When her father is murdered she pushes Ash away. 5 years later the Butcher is back and so is Ash and he'll do anything to protect Remi. The ending was totally shocking you'll never see it coming. No matter the genre she is writing Ms. Ivy always delivers a amazing story.

Ash had left the police force in Chicago to teach at a college 2 hours away. His brother, Jax, still a cop, visits Ash to tell him hat his former fiancé, Remi, had been murdered. Ash still is in love with Remi - so he travels back to his hometown - Chicago - to see what has happened. It seems as if "The Butcher" serial killer is up to his old tricks. The victim had a slit throat and a crescent carved on her breast. (The Butcher's "trademarks"). However, It had been five years since the Butcher had last surfaced. At that time, Remi's father, Gage, had been murdered while Remi, his daughter, was rendered unconscious. Gage was Ash's former partner and mentor on the force in addition to being engaged to Gage's daughter, Remi. The two broke up soon afterward. That is when Ash fled teach. I now want to read the rest of the series - there are many different possibilities as to which is the butcher A truly thrilling suspense story that I read easily as a standalone. Great plot, and decisive characterization. RECOMMEND!!! Many Thanks to Kensington Books - Zebra and NetGalley for a riveting read!
