Overview

The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth by Juliet Gauvin

A story about losing your way and finding your life. Book 1 of 3.

Elizabeth Lara built a perfect life as San Francisco's top divorce attorney, but when she loses her great-aunt Mags, the woman who raised her, she boards a plane and leaves it all behind.

The Irish shores welcome her as she learns a shocking truth, kept secret for thirty-five years. Devastated and now alone in the world, Beth tries to find peace in a beautiful cottage by Lough Rhiannon, but peace isn't what fate had in mind. Almost as soon as she arrives, Beth's solitary retreat into the magic wilds of Ireland is interrupted by Connor Bannon. A man with light brown hair, ice blue eyes and a secret of his own. He's gorgeous, grieving, and completely unexpected.

With the help of Mags' letters, the colorful townspeople of Dingle, and Connor, Elizabeth might just find a way back to the girl she lost long ago and become the woman she always wanted to be.

A Note From Jules:
Be forewarned you might not want to start this book late at night-several readers have reported "gobbling it up" and going on to the next book immediately. This book is literary women's fiction, it is not a traditional romance, per se.

It's a trilogy, not a standalone. All three books are vital to the story: The Irish Cottage, The London Flat, and The Paris Apartment. If I crammed Elizabeth & Connor's story into one book it would be 1,000 pages long. So take a ride with me, first to Ireland and then the world.

"If you enjoy Nora Roberts, you'll like Juliet Gauvin. The Irish Cottage is a fresh take on women's literary fiction, sometimes light and scrumptious and other times quite profound in its observations on life, love and loss."

"A book that conveys the true feelings of Ireland when you visit...it's a bit of a romance, history, travel, and mystery neatly tied into a book well worth reading."

"I started this book and couldn't put it down. It brought me to Ireland and I never wanted to leave."

The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth is an international women's literary fiction romance novel with three books in the novel series. Other themes include: romance literary fiction, women's sagas, love stories, and second chances at life.

The allure of this book was the story of Elizabeth rediscovering wh she is while in Ireland by means of Mag's letters. It sounded really cool, especially because of my affinity for Irish culture. However, i felt that this book focused more on Elizabeth's relationship with Connor. I wouldnt have minded it so much if their romance was nit described so graphically. Personally, I believe that the "dirty details" removed the romance. And there were several cliches that i found unbearable. Elizabeth was developed as a character with minimal faults and many unrealistic characteristics, making her character unrelateable. If only the whole book was like the last two chapters.

The book and story line was excellent until the sexual encounters became decadent! I would have enjoyed the rest, with a different ending and much less explanation during the bed scenes. Also less on the scenery and a stick to the original story. I will not follow up on this series

So I read it all today. I was hooked about 20 pages in. As soon as I finish this review I am purchasing the London Flat book, though I'll wait to start it (ha, I should get something done around here!)

Very refreshing, engaging... and can be quite personally rewarding, if you're willing to look in the mirror that Mags hands to each of us. The rest of the series is unavoidable ~ I must have it.

Just finished the book and felt it was well written with well developed characters. Will be reading the second and third but feel wronged when authors do this to sell more books...I would read more from this author even if it wasn't written in this series. Please be more straight-forward by writing a complete novel next time. You are good enough for us to follow!

I totally enjoyed this book. It was unusual had something different going for it in the letters . The characters were fun & not always predictable. The unpredictability was a very nicechange of pace for me.

Fun book, interesting characters and not totally predictable plot. My only minor complaint is with the editing. Spelling and syntax errors do bug and cause a bump in my involvement in the story, but maybe that's just me. Didn't keep me from getting and enjoying the other two books in the series.

This was a great storyline but too short! I really liked the way it was written from Beth's perspective but you always knew what Connor was thinking. I can't wait to read the next installment.

Thank you, Jules, for taking me back to Ireland. What an intriguing story. The plotting is excellent, you have the dialogue down pat and very well-drawn characters. I plan on getting the other books to find out what happens to Beth. Good job!

This tale of rediscovering oneself is very intriguing, especially when you consider the entangled love story. I look forward to the next installment.

I enjoyed the book but was disappointed with a cliffhanger. I wouldn't have read it knowing that there isn't a conclusion unless I spend $12 on the other two stories in the series. I really did enjoy it though. The characters were well developed, as was the story.

I am so glad I read the recommendation for this book. It was exactly what I was looking for. Hot Irish men and mind melting romance.
