A great poem of this end of our century. It is masterfully structured in recurring themes and voices which build on and off each other. Gardinier is above all a poet whose language and images are completely integrated so that in Keats's words, every rift is laden with ore. I found this a thrilling poem to read."--Adrienne Rich • Winner of the 1992 Associated Writing Programs' Award Series in Poetry

Its hard to explain how much you like a poem when every time you read it you are left with a loss for words. This is how i feel about Suzanne's poetry. From the moment I picked up The New World I was entranced by the sharp simplicity Susanne shapes in all of her words. This book has served as an unrelenting inspiration to me. If you enjoy wonderful poetry I would highly recommend reading this, and all other books written by this magnificant author.
