The Rock is the last book of poems assembled by Wallace Stevens, and it was added to the text of what became The Collected Poems of Wallace Stevens, published in 1954. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1879, Stevens died in Hartford, Connecticut, on August 2, 1955. This is the first separate publication of this remarkable collection of late poems.
