The Shop On Main by Kay Correll

Sometimes, doing the right thing backfires...

Bella Amaud is desperate when she learns her business and the home she lives in with her two boys are about to be whisked out from under her. As she scrambles to maintain her fragile financial security and independence, she fears she may lose more than just The Shop on Main and her home.

Nothing is working out like Bella planned--she finds out the man she is falling for, Owen Campbell, is the businessman at the center of all her problems.

Owen has secretly longed to belong--somewhere--anywhere--his whole life. When he decides to give his long-lost brother, Jake, back his birthright, he unknowingly thwarts his briefly held hope of a place where he can put down roots and a family he longs for.

Nothing is working out like Owen planned--neither Bella or Jake want anything to do with him.

How can a man who is used to being in control and a woman determined to make it all on her own find a way to happiness?

The Shop on Main is Book One of the Comfort Crossing series. Bella and her best friends, Jenny and Becky Lee, navigate the heartaches and triumphs of love and life in the small southern town of Comfort Crossing, Mississippi.

About the Author

Kay Correll writes stories that are a cross between contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She likes her women’s fiction with a healthy dose of happily-ever-after. Her stories are set in the fictional small southern town of Comfort Crossing, Mississippi. While her books are a series, each one can be read as a stand-alone story.

Kay lives in Missouri and can often be found out and about with her camera, taking a myriad of photographs, often incorporating them into her book covers. When not lost in her writing or photography, she can be found spending time with her ever-supportive husband, playing with her puppies, working in her garden, or—her most favorite pastime—eating chocolate. Their rowdy gaggle of five boys are all grown now, not that Kay believes that males ever truly grow up, but she’s fine with that.

The story was really short and the dialogue repeated several times. It was a little frustrating reading over and over again the same thoughts and phrases throughout the book. The problems were way too easily resolved, like a Hallmark special.

Unfortunately too much repetition during first half of book caused me to lose interest often.

I just loved this story and the people in it. Lovely small town that I'd love to move to. The story is told wonderfully and the characters are well developed. The author is confident in her writing ability and didn't resort to sex to sell her story. Would love if the story were continued. So glad I got this book! esk 11/2016

A short book, a really slow start, with many typos and mispelled words. I should have paid attention to the reviews. Not even interested in finishing.

Absolutely love it! Ran all the emotions of sympathy, anger, fear, struggle, love of family, strength, friendship, crying, and happy ever after. Be prepared for puffy eyelids!

Has a little bit of everything. Small town, good friends. Close family w/ dogs, jerky ex husband. Possible new romance....then the bottom drops.. you gotta read it to find out. Its fun easy read, a few places repeats, clean which is A+++

A very nice story. I thought I could read this short story quickly but it had so much on each page that it took as much time to read as a 300 page book. Very enjoyable
