About the Author

There is a place in all of us that takes pride in the land and the people from where we come. It was this pride that motivated eighty-eight-year-old David McCullough to weave a story of history and fiction into a series of seven novels about his place of origin.
These novels begin in an era of British suppression and occupation, amidst Ireland's Easter Rising. They continue through times of war with the occupier and conflicts within Ireland itself, depicting a period of ongoing British control and increasing troubles, and culminate in the polarizing Easter Accords.
McCullough's seven novels explore the love and hate, rivalry and divisions, and the bloodshed that both hindered and somehow nurtured this magical land.
Born in San Diego, California, McCullough grew up living with his County Kerry grandparents until the end of WWII. He attended local high schools and colleges, married his junior high school sweetheart, and enjoyed a thirty-five-year career in local government. It wasn't until after his retirement and the sequestered days of COVID that he began to put his thoughts about Maggie on paper.
His favorite books include Trinity and Redemption by Leon Uris, Morgan Llywelyn’s Century series, and Cathal Liam’s series, which he began reading upon retirement. These works provided lingering inspiration for him to write the story of Maggie McCarthy and the Ireland of her time.
