TO CATCH A PIRATE was an amazing book! In this book there is adventure, romance, and even some suspense. It is told in alternating views between Anna, a 17 year-old girl, and James Sterling, a pirate. When their paths cross there is an instant chemistry that has you rooting for them through the whole book! James is charming and¿dangerous, which makes him even more captivating.
I think the main point is finding who you¿re supposed to be with. Fighting the odds of society and being who you want to be no matter what everyone says. The author brought so many emotions into one book, making it so that you couldn¿t put it down until you were finished! I¿d recommended this book to all my friends. You have to read TO CATCH A PIRATE!

Seeking out revenge for what has befallen her and her father, Anna wants to find the pirate ship that attacked her fathers vessel and take back what the pirates have stolen. On their journey they catch James Sterling and interogate him for information. To her dismay, she at once feels an attraction to him and try as she might she cannot resist his charms. They fall in love, but he is a pirate and the law won't allow them to be together, or is there a way?

This was one of the best books I have read in awhile. I read it all in one night. I just simply couldn't bear to put it down. In fact I loved it so much that I read it twice in a row. The first six chapters are great but after that the book is exceptional. The characters are well developed and very expressive. James Sterling makes even me swoon. With his charm and good looks he is very dangerous to any woman near him. I would love to see more of these characters. So if there is another book please let me know!

I read this book in one day, (a couple of hours to tell you the truth) and i found that it was funny, witty, engaging, romantic, adventurous, heroic.. the charcters where all strong. this is not a story of the damsel in distress being rescured by the handsome price, the damsel here is headstrong and brave. Annalisa manage to be the captan on a ship full of men that respect her as the leader. James is the funniest and most mischievous pirate i have ever seen (well except for Jack Sparrow of course) and they manage to fall in love with each other despite each others principles and way of life. this is a great story and anyone that love hate and love relationship could relate to this one perfectlt.

I bought To Catch a Pirate while searching the web for a good high seas adventure book to read. It's about a sixteen-year old girl who becomes a phony privateer to catch a pirate who has stolen her father's treasure. First of all, I've read a lot of books that center around pirates and ocean adventures. To Catch a Pirate is written, as I understand it, by an author who usually writes splashy-romance fiction for females. Fine. But this pirate book is lacking what makes a good salty sailing cruise fun to read: realism. Things move too fast, the ship doesn't seem real, and the characters have--to me at least--little emotion. Besides, a female procuring a privateering license, even a forged one, isn't very believable. A woman in that time could hardly get on a pirate ship. Any ship. Period! The book is short. I read it all one night before bed, and it offers some adventure and romance. But the characters are shallow and the story is not strong enough to make me believe that things are really happening. That it could be real. An alternative I would recommend to "To Catch a Pirate" is the Bloody Jack series.

This book was one of the best books I've ever read. It had a great story and was filled with many genres and conflicts. The only bad thing about the book is that it is too short.......... I finished it like in 2 days. It's a great "Just for Fun" book!!! :)

The plot is...well, there isn't one really, or it's really flimsy. It's just one of those cheap, cheesy romance novels that you swore you wouldn't read, read it, and swear you wouldn't do it again. It reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean, which is one reason why I did not like it. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, but the story feels like a rip-off. Even some of the lines of dialogue were taken from the movie. The only thing is, "Jack" replaces "Will." The writing style doesn't draw you in, the characters do not develop, you quickly get bore and finish for the sake of finishing. A rainy day read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The only bad thing was that it wasn't long enough! I could easily reread this book several times. You can really fall in love with the characters. I would recommend this to everyone!

To Catch a Pirate is a fantastic book. I absolutely love books that have a sense of adventure, romance, and suspense in it, and this book succeeded in that. Its great for any rainy day. For the people that read this book, don't you wish you could have a pirate like James Sterling in your life?!?!? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM!! Please read if you haven't! Go to Barns and Noble right now!! I mean it!! You won't be disappointed!!

Annalisa Townsend and her father were on their way to start a fort in the Carribean when their ship was attacked by pirates. During the attack, Anna was cornered in the hold by a young, handsome pirate. She offers him her ring in place of her necklace--her only reminder of her mother--but he says he needs something else. He steals a kiss.

Now one year later James Sterling has been abandoned by his captain and is on the run. While trying to get on a ship he meets, once again, with the girl who has occupied his thoughts since he kissed her in the hold. Anna is not happy to see James, as he holds the key to saving her father from prison. A battle ensues, not just between pirates, but between two young hearts...who will come out the victor?

Jade Parker did a wonderful job of creating an interesting, intriguing plot. However, the book is rather short and the relationship between Anna and James seems undeveloped. I never really felt anything reading this book, and that was a little disappointing. It was a fast read, though, and would be enjoyable as rainy day reading material. Not necessarily a classic, but definitely fun to snuggle up with.

AWESOME! Just... Awesome! I loved this book. I seriously enjoy reading a good book about pirates but it's so hard to find books about them where the author actually knows what they're doing! And let me tell you- Parker knows exactly what she's doing! It's become difficult for me to read stand-alone books anymore because everything is a series now they just feel rushed to me... Butnot this one! I couldn't put it down! 5 stars Parker! Love this book!!! Read it! Now.

The cover caught my eye. And made think of the other pirate books I read. And of course the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. So with this one, it has a girl, and a pirate that steals a kiss then she tries to get revenge etc. Fun read.

Once caught, it’s harder still to let a pirate go. When Annalisa Townsend’s ship is set upon by pirates in search of her father’s treasure, one of the crew, James Sterling, discovers her in the hold. When he moves to take her necklace, she begs him not to, as it is all she has left of her mother. He accepts a kiss in exchange for the necklace. “A fair trade, m’lady,” he tells her afterward, before disappearing. A year later, with a forged letter of marque, Annalisa is intent on hunting down the wretched James Sterling and reclaiming her father’s treasure from him. But now she’s in danger of him stealing something far more vulnerable this time: her heart. In the early 1700s, Annalisa is on-board a ship, with her father, set sail to the Caribbeans. Upon almost reaching their destination, the ship is attacked by pirates. Annalisa was able to hide safely below decks, until a young pirate named James Sterling finds her. His thieving ways tempt him to steal Annalisa's prized possession, but since her necklace is the last connection to her Mother, she pleads desperately to keep it. In exchange, James asks for a kiss and vanishes. One year later, her Father is in jail due to the missing treasure the pirates stole and Annalisa, hoping to reclaim the life she had, acquires a ship and crew of her own to go after the pirates, especially James Sterling. It's a short & sweet historical pirate book which many can highly compare with Pirates of the Caribbeans. It's also a cute & fun love story with a perk, since there's more romance in here than most young adult books. Both Annalisa and James were enjoyable characters and there's some fun twists in the plot, but don't expect anything mind-blowing. In short, this would make a great summer adventure read for the beach! Likes: I highly enjoyed the snappy verbal sparring between the two leads. Dislikes: I wish there was a second book. This would be a fun series!

After the death of her mother, Annalisa Townsend and her father sail to the Caribbean, with a treasure chest filled with some of the King's gold, to build a new port. When their ship gets attacked by pirates, the gold is stolen and many lives are lost. The survivors, including Annalisa and her father, report the attack. Because they survived, Annalisa's father is accused of either being a pirate or associating with pirates and is thrown in jail. Annalisa goes out with her friend, Nathaniel to find the pirate, James Sterling. He was the very attractive pirate who held her at knifepoint, stole her ring, and kissed her while the pirates were searching the ship. In fact, he saved her life, by keeping her whereabouts a secret. Since her father is incarcerated, she wants nothing more than to kill the pirates that forced her into ruin. Using her dowry, Annalisa finds a ship and crew and begins hunting for the pirate that stole her treasure. Annalisa was such a strong character. For a woman in the 1700s to chase pirates and captain a ship-that's pretty darn incredible. James Sterling couldn't believe she (a woman) was commanding a ship. Of course, she had Nathaniel's help; but still. Grrr....Nathaniel. I did not like him. Since this book reminded me so much of the Pirates of the Caribbean (without the supernatural aspect), Nathaniel reminded me of Norington. James Sterling was just Ahhhh *swoon*. He was like a combination between Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. After stealing Annalisa's kiss and ring he is marooned on an island along with his friend Ferret for betraying his captain. When he gets off the island he ends up running for his life from a pirate hunter. When Annalisa finally catches him, she treats him well, or tries to at least. Nathaniel can see the growing attraction and does not like it. He does terrible things to James, like beating him. James is the better man, even though he is a pirate. Now partnered with James, Annalisa goes out to find the buried treasure. This book was so great. It had romance, sword fighting, pirates, adventure, and suspense. I would definitely recommend reading this awesome book.

I'm used to thick books and I thought this one would be, but when it arrived, I held it and I was like what the heck? It was so tiny, as big as my hand and thin compared to what I'm used to. I love how its taking place in the 1800's. Although I expected this book to be AWESOME, it wasn't bad, I finished it quickly. Overall I don't regret reading it and I would recommend it to friends.
