Until You Make the Shore
Four fictionalized female juveniles represent each of the four levels of the juvenile detention center's Restorative Justice Model. With this as structure, Until You Make the Shore inhabits the humanity of mind, justice and traumatic childhood as it carves its way through systems and harsh realities to find where empathy shines. A former MMA fighter, Conaway's writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Huffington Post, ESPN, and Rattle. This is his debut poetry collection. Cameron also serves as executive editor at goodMenProject.com. He is the author of Caged: Memoirs of a Cage-Fighting Poet (Threed Press, 2011) and Bonemeal: Poems (Finishing Line Press, 2014). He is on the Editorial Board at Slavery Today: A Multidisciplinary Journal of Human Trafficking Solutions, and he lives in Altoona, Pennsylvania. "The brave poems in Until You Make the Shore take us up against the cage and force us to get into the mix in a world most of us have never bothered to imagine."—The Good Men Project
