When They Weren't Looking (Wardham, #4) by Zoe York

Book #4 in The Wardham Series by NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Zoe York.

She's not looking for love…
A girl can have just one night of fun, right? After years in a spirit-breaking former marriage, Evie needed to get her groove back. Cutting loose in the big city with no strings attached—no matter how cute her one night stand guy might be. Besides, she'll never see him again once she goes home to Wardham.

…He's not thinking about forever.
Liam knows showing up on her doorstep might throw Evie for a loop. But Wardham's his new home now, and he just can't get the sexy single mother out of his mind. A second date isn't to much to ask, is it? Or a third, and a fourth!

It's not what they expected. But it might be just what they need.
Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs, though. Just when things are finally going right for Evie, two little lines on a pregnancy test change everything. Now she's running scared, and Liam has to pull out all the stops to prove a family with her is everything he's ever wanted.

Let me just say, When They Weren't Looking is my favourite book in the whole series. It was fun and entertaining and just made me feel so good. Every girl should have a guy like Liam in their lives. Being a single mother Evie Calhoun spends all her time being there for her kids, taking care of them, running a studio to feed them all, being a good sister and daughter. So when Evie's mother tells her to take a day to herself and forget about everything else, Evie just wants to let loose and have some fun. She never expects a hot and sexy business student to buy her a drink or to take her out and have a little hot action. But one night of fun doesn't always have the best of results. Not when you get pregnant with your one-night stand and don't his last name or where to find him. Liam McIntosh is a just out of business school and celebrating his graduation when his eyes stop at the sexy blond sitting alone. Though a bit older than him, Liam cannot resist the blonde beauty. When he buys her a drink he expects there to be some between the sheets action. But what he does not expect is to want to date Evie, only to find her gone the next morning. Liam never told her he was buying property in Wardham. So when she unexpectedly meets him in Wardham, Evie decides to tell him about the pregnancy and leave it at that. She has raised two boys, she can obviously raise one more herself. Right? When Liam finds out he is going to be father, he is determined to do the right thing by him. Which is obviously to marry her. But Evie is also determined to stay away from him. He was after all just a one-night stand. Between her kids, a new born baby on the way and trying to keep a roof of their heads and food in their mouths, Evie doesn't have time for a relationship. Liam will have to pull all the stops to prove to Evie that he is in it for the long haul and that it is not a short-term arrangement. When They Weren't Looking being a book about a single mother, I hoped there would be more instances of Liam interacting with Evie's kids. Unfortunately that did not happen. Also Liam has a rocky relationship with his parents, especially his father. Their issues were never properly addressed or resolved. I would have liked that a lot. Despite all my complaints, this book was the best in he series. I loved it. Zoe York gets her characters hotter with each new book. The book had a good story line with amazing characters. Liam was a real sweetheart. She adored Evie and was willing to fight for her and what they could have. Evie herself was a strong character. Her only weak spot being her ex-husband, who mind you was a real dick. But Liam always stood by her and was always at her defense.  An amazing story with equally amazing characters, When They Weren't Looking was an awesome book. I look forward to reading more books in the series.

NOT A CLIFFHANGER! This was a delightful book about a man who really loved. She had an abusive ex-husband who convinced her she was not enough. She learned from her only 1 night stand that she was. Some reviewers complained that he did not do much for her two sons... idiots! I think they did not really read this story. As a single mother, I found myself involved when for 14 years I did not allow a man to be allowed time with my son. When my husband said, "Two can put you son through college, easier than !". I knew he was the one for me. This man greeted her sons, included them in their life. He made sure her sons were accepting of his relationship. He made them a part of his new life! I would have picked him, too. I enjoyed the story of the main characters and their friends and family. I recommend this book HIGHLY!!!!!

She seems scared to love, not trusting Liam, but mostly herself in taking control of her life. This book was a good read.

These books get better and better as the series goes by!  Liam is beyond perfect and just completely made this book for me.  The book was great no matter what, but he is just amazing.  Another great follow up for the Wardham series and I can't wait to start the next one!

Loved Evie and Liam is to die for he is so handsome and totally caring. These two went through some real struggles but he was so good with Evie even after she really started showing she was pregnant. Who could resist him. The kids in the story was very lovable little guys. A great fun read.

Love this author one of my favorites.  Not a fan of this book.  The middle dragged along but was worth it in the end.  Characters was likable and love the real life experience. I would definetly buy her other books.

I LOVE most of Zoe's books. No, wait, I've loved all 3 books that I've read so far, and there will be more. The only one I wasn't crazy about was a short story, and it just didn't grab me. This one delivers, all around. Don't miss it!

I went back after reading 4.3 to re read this one...The addition of 4.3 would have been better to make #3 a bit longer and would answer some questions....GREAT STORY THOUGH
