Where Giants Dwell
The far west, final destination of the Oregon Trail, was called Beulah Land or The Promised Land. The lure of this land spurred the greatest mass migration the nation had ever seen, and many people gave up everything for the lure of Manifest Destiny.

How will a young French Canadian-Indian orphan fare in this new world? Where Giants Dwell follows the journey of one family, one region, and one awesome wilderness through time as spirits and powers collide on a path towards their destinies. This is one look at the end of the Oregon Trail and the northwest never seen before. The region boasts totem poles, the Columbia River Gorge, shanghaiing sailors, earthquakes, wildfires, Lewis and Clark, volcanoes, breathtaking vistas, and more. In this land of contrasts, the wilderness becomes fettered by the power of visionary men and women in pursuit of their dreams. Settlers and empire builders strive to build a utopia in a land that is often as fierce as those who come to conquer it.

About the Author

Alina Patterson holds a Masters in Liberal Studies at Rollins College. Through her life and coursework she combines spiritual, psychological, sociological, and scientific concepts with actual experiences. Her careers includes ministry work, crisis counseling, environmental science, nursing, and more. In addition to being analytical, Alina also evokes musical and literary creativity to describe concepts in a different light. Alina calls herself a “kaleidoscope;” the image she projects comes from mirrors, broken pieces of glass, colorful insights, and a myriad of experiences. She uses all these elements and holds them up in the light to make new patterns. She fell in love with storytelling in third grade and can’t resist a good tale. Fascinated by the world around her, she brings geology, science, sociology, psychology, faith, and history to life. Her passions include writing, singing, music, animals, community resilience, and the great outdoors. She currently enjoys peaceful days in Hawaii where she takes the time to write and join her beloved sea turtles for a swim in a quiet lagoon. If you find her there she might just tell you a short story or two. You also might see her giving her little dog a ride on her back, where he rides her like a boogie board. If you find her alone, listen quietly, she may be singing to her turtle friends or the One Who Sees All. The second volume of the Footprints Collection, The Leviathan and the Whirlwind, will be available the fall of 2017. Other works include her memoirs titled Reborn in Adversity: A Tale of Trauma, Abuse, and Resilience, The Spirit of Sanctification: A Bible Study on Spiritual Strength and Growth; Health and Healing “Wilt Thou Be Made Whole? (SECOND EDITION: Expanded and Revised). Her short eBook papers include "I Believe in Order to Understand:" Divine Revelation Critical to Higher Reasoning; Clearing the Mind to Tap the Divine: “Everyone Goes Back to God at Night;” The Mysteries of the Anointing; and The Hymn of the Pearl: A Biblical Interpretation. Her album, Island Child, should be produced and available for release in 2018. Island Child embraces concepts from Alina's life as a resilient child and abuse survivor. Several true life children’s stories will also be released sometime in the future. They include Ollalie Days, Radar’s Place, and God’s Ducks.
