This was a great book. I really liked the Jumper series so I though I would give this a try and ended up loving it.

I read this after reading Jumper. I was a little disappointed because it was more talk and less action. But I would still give it a B-. Definitely worth the read if you are a Steven Gould fan. A note: This book has too much sexuality for young teens IMO!

Wildside is a pretty fun and energetic speculative novel about an alternate Earth connected to our own, a world in which humans did not evolve and mammoths and saber-tooth tigers still roam. The plot of the novel focuses on teenager Charlie Newell and his four friends, who discover and operate a gate from our world to the alternate Earth.

I enjoyed this novel. As with Jumper, Gould manages to bring original insight and energy to a classic SF trope. The characterization is at times a bit forced and crude, but overall this is an engaging, fun novel.
