About the Author

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-94) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of an engineer. Now one of the most translated authors in the world, Stevenson achieved fame in his own lifetime, producing some of the most popular fiction of all time, including Treasure Island and Kidnapped. Stevenson eventually settled with his family in Samoa, where he is buried in a spot overlooking the sea.
