JOE MEDINA was born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1968. He studied at Hoover St. Elementary school and was
selected into the Gifted Program while in Kindergarten. He earned a GED and High School diploma while in
the sixth grade. He attended West Point Military Academy in 1979. That summer he earned a PhD in
psychology. He served in the Army in 1986 through 1987 and was awarded the Distinguished Graduate
Award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army’s Driver’s Badge Award. He volunteered service for the
LA Conservation Corps, UCLA Medical Center, the LAPD, the County, the Bureau, and the Agency. He served
as a Missionary for the Church and thereafter became Sheriff in Mexico City D.F. He has degrees from Los
Angeles Trade Technical College. Joe Medina resides in Los Angeles. He married in 2004 and is father of two.
