Wasn't sure if it could get better but it did and with the storytelling it was a Rollercoaster of emotions and left you wanting more. The addition of characters show the strength of the human spirit and the pace is still full speed ahead and it doesn't disappoint. A must have for anyone who reads this genre

Another great installment to the series! This fourth book did not let me down. I've read the previous three prior and I wasn't sure if it could get better but it did! Smith introduces some new characters that eventually weaves into the story well. I'm glad that some new characters were added to help because it gave hope that there actually might still be a chance that humans can survive. The variants are evolving at an alarming rate, all of them in any area of the earth have rigorously adapted to their environment. There is also a new wave of variants that the team has to take on. If you've been wondering about Fitz, well this is the book that we learn a lot about his past. We find out what exactly happened to him, which was awesome because he's one of my favorites. This book is one hell of a roller coaster ride, there were lots of events/situations that came out of no where, emotions that are invoked; the plot just gets better with each book. After reading all four books, what I truly enjoy about Smith's writing is his creative storytelling. His fluidity of events and details is what kept me wanting to read more. There were no slow points in any of his books, which is rare for me to find in any book. His details in writing, it may be military tactic or creating a biological weapon; was intricate and intriguing which challenged me as a reader. Overall, this was a super read. I would highly recommend reading the previous books in order to really understand the story and characters

5 stars is NOT enough! Another great addition to a mesmerizing series! This fourth installment in the Extinction Cycle series had me a cold sweat from start to finish. Author Nicholas Smith isn’t the least bit timid about killing off main characters and two of my personal favorites were in serious peril. Whew! Time to kick back, have a beer and gear up for book #5 tomorrow.
