Overview

Clinton Kelly won’t just revamp your wardrobe—he’ll revamp your life!

The huddled masses yearn to be fabulous, and finally Clinton Kelly is heeding their call. As cohost of TLC’s popular What Not to Wear, he regularly transforms dumpy fashion disasters into traffic-stopping, get-an-instant-promotion, reignite-the-passion-in-that-relationship makeovers. But fabulousness doesn’t stop with style. Let’s face it: you might look good, but if you’re chomping on that crudité with your mouth wide open, nobody at the party will talk to you—even if you can explain to them what crudité actually is.

Of course, the keys to being better than everyone else aren’t always so obvious. Don’t worry; Clinton’s here to help.

- How do you make a flat butt look big and a big butt look flat?
- What’s the one trick that will slim down your entire silhouette and make your ta-tas look va-va-voom?
- How do you eat an oyster without getting kicked out of the best restaurant in town?
- What’s the grammatically correct form of “lay” to use when propositioning someone?

He’ll teach you how to look your best, sound your smartest, use the manners your momma taught you, poach an egg, fix a perfect gin and tonic, throw the most popular parties (and top the guest list at other soirees), make your home the envy of your neighbors, and generally be the fabulous person you always knew you could be.

From the three style criteria he uses to dress any shape for any occasion, to his eloquent approach to appreciation, to his four must-memorize recipes for whipping up a last-minute meal, Clinton Kelly shares it all in Freakin’ Fabulous.

Being a newcomer to the world of entertaining and the business world, I picked up this book and certainly wasn't disappointed. I rarely watch What Not to Wear, but know Clinton Kelly from the show. It was hysterical and informative at the same time, with lessons on eating in public (anything above Denny's), and even speaking properly. I especially liked the explanations of the categories of different events and how to dress, such as "black tie". An overall nice read, very entertaining and a good investment.

I thought this book was really fun! Still, Clinton is a lot funnier on What Not to Wear than it this book. The humor didn't always translate for me. The graphic design of this book is gorgeous. You feel like you're reading a more upscale fashion magazine.

Freakin' good fun!! I loved this book and laughed out loud throughout. The appeal of this book is more in the hilarious writing than in the actual content, though it is loaded with helpful advice on a wide variety of topics, from dressing to entertaining to decorating to etiquette and correct speech. It's chock-full of gorgeous color photos and contains numerous recipes (every one with a photo) that actually look do-able. The photos of actual (crazy) thank-you notes received by Kelly alone were worth the price of the book. Note to visitors to my house: I will be taking Clinton's advice and precariously placing marbles on my medicine cabinet shelves--just in case you're feeling nosy!

I've always enjoyed Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear, but his wit and edgy humor really shine through in this book that basically teaches you how to be better than everyone else! I love that he devotes equal time to both fabulous shoes and his pet grammar peeves. The tone is arch but Kelly pokes enough fun at himself to make it clear is all in good fun. This well written book would be worth the purchase price for the party recipes alone- add in all the rest and you have the perfect gift for almost anyone on your holiday list. I know at least 4 friends who will be happily laughing over this offering come Christmas morning...

My daughter and I both loved this book when we got it from the library. I wish it was available as an e-book, but it doesn't seem to be - I think it is only in hardcover, which is fine too. I will be buying this book soon. It has recipes, fashion and home decor advice and more. The book is just like clinton - smart, funny and kind.

Seeing that I spend every Friday with Clinton and Stacy (watching What Not To Wear) I consider them my close friends! I was so excited to hear that Clinton had written a book. Written in a very funny voice that could only be Clinton's, this book is a must have for anyone who wants to get along in the world. I think it spells out a lot of necessary manners that people don't seem to acknowledge any more. My young adult daughter found it very useful and I think I'll encourage my twentysomething son to look it over as well. There is truly something in this book to help everyone be a little more fabulous. I just wish it were longer! I want more fabulousness! Way to go Clinton!!

Very helpful book that takes a look at how to plan just about every social event.

Overall, the book was a fun read with simple dress-well and "how to entertain" tips. However, I expected more content in the fashion section of Clinton's book. As an outspoken co-host on "What Not To Wear," I bought the book for more opinionated tips on how to achieve an overall cohesive look for every body type - tips for accessorizing your outfits and styling yourself from head to toe. Clinton covered this information briefly at the beginning of the book, but was eager to move on to a lengthy chapter about using proper grammar. After the somewhat monotonous grammar chapter, the book picks up again with useful tips about interior decorating and throwing the perfect cocktail party. I enjoyed the read, but couldn¿t help but feel a little disappointed.
