About the Author

If you don't happen to see Robert on his evening walk with a good book in his hand, just follow the sound of great rock and roll, and you'll find him either working in the yard while listening to old tapes or somewhere else playing his guitar too loud. He might have more books than furniture, but in his little home in Magna, Utah his richest treasures all give hugs.
Robert is the recipient of the 2010 Marilyn Brown Novel Award for his novel Across a Harvested Field.

Book 1 introduces us to a nice sized cast of characters living in Magna, UT connected by a dark past. Starting with members of a cult group where the direction of their leader becomes more than some of the members can handle, some decide to escape into the safety of the world, scattering into the deep wilderness and into the belly of Salt Lake. Moving forward to the year 1984, a seemingly random group of teenagers sense the growing darkness surrounding them in Magna, UT, but have no idea what is coming for them. How are the two groups connected and what is lurking in the surrounding woods? With a vivid, descriptive landscape and rich storytelling, this book is only the beginning of a series that pulls the reader into the lives of several characters and the underlying ties that bind them all. It's addictive and mysterious, nostalgic and reminiscent of a time long gone with tons of pop culture references from that decade. This story includes a diverse cast of characters full of some sort of darkness or scars that could spell catastrophe for all. It's really an enticing tale and I can't wait to continue reading this series to find out what happens next.

I found this an interesting read, intriguing and thought provoking, I went to Cyprus High in the late 60's and am familiar with Magna and the surrounding areas. I read the 2nd book and couldn't put it down! I'm now into the 3rd book. Good story...short easy afternoon reads.
