This is a good read, not lengthy nor delving to deeply into the deeper regions of European politics of the French Revolution. It gives an easy time line to follow, highlights the major accomplishments and defeats, as well as providing some decent perspective on Napoleon. I recommend it for anyone who wishes to know more about the greatest general since Alexander.

I read this book in 1991. I was utterly enthralled by it. It is an excellent introduction to the world of L'emperor. It was very lucid, vivid, and dramatic, much like Napoleon would have imagined his own life.I was profoundly impacted by the drive of his idealism. Of great humor is the interaction between Napoleon the great terror of Europe and a teenage girl he finds amusing when he is finally banished forever to the island of St. Helena off the African Continent.

This was definitely the best of many biography's of Napoleon I have read. I would recommend it to anybody, as it is complete, original, informative, and interesting.

A good account of one of history's greatest men. Good illustrations, although the maps could have been better. It is an inexpensive edition and not too long. It's worth the money.
