About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released multiple books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.

Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.

This book was well written (with just a few grammatical errors), and the plot was excellent. I liked the characters because they all seemed very real and honest. I *especially* liked Gabby because she is a strong, ethical, self-assured, positive and independent woman with a healthy self-image and no room in her life for petty jealousies, insecurities or drama. She has a normal number of human flaws, and actively addresses them throughout the story. I found her absolutely refreshing. My only gripe about the book centers around the fact that at least HALF of it was made up of explicit, gratuitous sex scenes that added almost nothing to the story. I enjoy steamy romances as much as the next reader, but there needs to be a balance. Here, the sheer volume of sex detail actually interfered with the flow of the story. I would have appreciated a lot less flesh and a little more fleshing out of the plot!

Some of the reviews were wordier than the story. I actually liked the writing, but the extensive sex was unnecessary & gave it a porno effect.

Good plot idea, but it's ruined by unnecessarily foul language that takes the place of meaningful dialog. Shallow, predictable characters push the story more into the "soft porn" area than the tale about romance, redemption, or family that it could be ... but perhaps that was the author's intent. If so, it should be labeled as such.

Sawyer Bennett truly outdid herself with this story! Hunter and Gabby were made for one another. Their cosideration, truthfulness, and loyalty to one another helped them to withstand and conquer all obstacles! Loved it!!

This is a must read book! The Last Call Series is off to a great start with characters that we can identify with, dialogue that makes you laugh, and a plot that just pulls you in and consumes you. Although, there are editing errors and lots of them, sometimes you have to reread a line to make it make sense, IMO those can be ignored because of how well this story flowed. Because of said issue I gave it 4 stars. On the Rocks is the story of Gabby Ward, a General Contractor and Ex-Pro Surfer, Hunter Markham, who have known each other their whole lives. She fell in love with him at the tender age of 18 and Hunter turned her down and broke her heart. He moves back and opens a bar and employs his identical twin brother, Brody, who has just been released from prison for murder. The story involves the H/H finding love with each other as adults and secondary characters that have their own issues and I can't wait to read those books. Even though this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone issue and it does not have a cliff hanger and but does contain a HEA.

It was good, but predictable. If you don't like sex scenes, then not for you. Good short read.

Gaby has had a crush on her BFF's older brother for years. On graduation night they share a kiss & Gaby is heartbroken when Hunter says it was a mistake. Ever since she can't even stand to be in the same room as him. Hunter has made a name for himself on the surfing circuit & when circumstances bring him home, neither one can deny their attraction to the other. My first book of SB's was from her cold fury series (which I love). Now don't get me wrong, I liked this book but for me I thought it was missing the conflict. Even when you finally know something has to go down, it feels forced & very predictable. I definitely want to read the next book because I think Brody's    Story is going to be VERY interesting.

OMG! Sawyer Bennett does it again. She continues writing fun, loving, exciting romantic novels that leave me in awe of her. I absolutely love her for making every novel different and completely enjoyable from beginning to end. On the Rocks was released on February 17, 2014. This highly anticipated novel was everything I want in a book, and more. It has romance. It has male perfection. It has a selfless female heroine. It has hot, steamy scenes. It really was perfection!  Gabby likes Hunter, her best friend's brother. She always had a crush on him and on her graduation night, after a few beers, she kisses him. The kiss is everything she dreamed about. However, Hunter does not react the way she expects him to and actually makes her regret the crush she had on him. Hunter and Gabby are childhood friends but don't act that way after "the kiss." After that things change, she hates him and he seems to hate her. Hunter goes away to surf and that is the end of their story, until he returns home. This plot was surreal! I'm always nervous reading books that have typical story lines (girl loves her best friend's brother) because so many things could go wrong, but this book was far from a mistake.   Hunter is a surfer, a hot one (yes, I have a thing for surfers. I'm a California GIRL!!). The ladies love him (I LOVE HIM!). Although he is said to be a playboy, I didn't really get that feeling but it is implied. He is a very appealing character. He puts his family first, before his career and before himself. I absolutely loved this trait about him. Any man that cares for their family like Hunter does is a REAL MAN! He is so selfless and really appreciates what surrounds him. AND don't forget he's H-O-T which doesn't hurt his situation at all!   Gabby is an independent, self-sufficient woman. She works in a man's world and has learned to be tough. She hates Hunter for breaking her eighteen-year-old heart and doesn't like that he's back in town for an indefinite amount of time. The heart he broke is cold and completely closed off but she knows that Hunter has always been the one, the one who can break her or can define of real happiness. She has real animosity towards him because of this fear, but as soon as she realizes that what she has with Hunter is completely real, she lets him in.   They are forced to work together, things start to change. I love this. I love the sexual tension that is built up--up to a point so explosive that it left me fanning myself. Gabby and Hunter both believed that their relationship was going to be a sexual one, ONLY sexual. However, that is impossible since both are unable to forget their kiss years before. Their relationship quickly progresses, which is something I very much enjoyed. The reader could tell how much they meant to each other, but the characters obviously didn't, which is another thing I enjoy because it makes their "getting together" much sweeter, and much MUCH more romantic. I'm a sucker for romance, and this books was completely in my rink.  BRODY WILL HAVE A NOVEL! I loved Brody, he's Hunter's twin brother, and it is obvious that he ends up with Alyssa, the heiress. Brody's stories was very vague but a huge part of novel and I quickly fell for him and his broodiness!  Swayer Bennett seriously every book I read, I LOVE! Your characters, your plots, everything is a complete package. I'm so glad I was able to read this book because it is now one of my favorites, and not I am not joking, its in my "favorites" bookshelf. So if you're looking for a nice, romantic novel On the Rocks is the one!

Sawyer Bennett does it again! This is a great start to another great series! Gabby has had a rough life. After she graduated high school, after a night of fun, she kisses the boy she has loved for some time. Unfortunately for her, he completely denies her. The trouble is he is her best friend’s brother and they are always around each other. As times goes on they just fight and bicker. Luckily Hunter is a pro surfer so he is gone a lot. When Hunter’s twin brother Brody gets out of jail Hunter is brought back into Gabby’s life. They still bicker and generally don’t like each other but, Hunter needs work done on the bar and Gabby’s just the girl to do it! Will they be able to work together without killing each other? Or will this be the thing that fixes them? I loved Brody. I am so excited that we will get his story next. He is a very interesting guy. After getting out of jail he is working at the bar with Hunter. It seems like he is having a hard time re-entering the world. His story should be fun! Casey is Brody and Hunters sister and Gabby’s BFF. They have been friends forever and have a great relationship. Gabby and Casey have been through a lot together.  Hunter and Gabby have a rollercoaster relationship. The love and hate each other. After being around each other they break. Gabby tells Hunter how much he hurt her and she is having a hard time getting over his playboy past. Will Hunter change for her? The book is in both of their POV’s and so we get Hunters side too. Hunter is more in love with Gabby then she realizes. It’s awesome to see a guy pining for a girl for once! Things get a little dicey when Hunters ex comes to town.  Can Gabby and Hunter survive their family and friends? Will they get their happily ever after? I LOVED this book! I can’t wait for the next one. Sawyer Bennett writes some amazing books! Keep them coming lady!

Great start to a new series:   ON THE ROCKS is the first storyline in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, new adult, erotic LAST CALL series focusing on a group of family and friends in Hatteras Island, North Carolina. This is a friends to enemies to lovers storyline that follows 22 year old Gabby Ward and 26 year old Hunter Markham as they dance around the elephant in the room-their mutual attraction and love for one another. The storyline premise will find up and coming professional surfer Hunter Markham walking away from Gabby on the night of her high school graduation. Their first kiss ends with Hunter pushing Gabby away. Fast forward five years and Gabby’s anger over Hunter’s apparent disgust of their kiss has fueled the fires that continue to eat away at Gabby’s heart. With Hunter’s return to North Carolina Gabby knows there will be no way to avoid the beautiful boy she once loved. But avoiding Hunter is next to impossible when circumstances find the couple working together towards a common goal. ON THE ROCKS introduces a tight knit groups of friends including Hunter’s twin brother Brody and, his sister and Gabby’s BFF Casey; Gabby’s roommate Savannah; Hunter’s surfing buddy John and his sister (and Hunter’s ex) Sasha; as well as Alyssa Myers-the woman who will help heal Brody’s broken and fragile mind. Much of the storyline finds the friends at Hunter’s new bar-The Last Call-where hearts will be broken and futures unveiled. The relationship between Hunter and Gabby is initially icy as Gabby’s continuous anger towards the man that she has loved for years interferes in their daily lives. She is a woman scorned; beaten down by what she believes is rejection; and there is very little room for negotiation when the heart wants what the head pushes away. At times, Gabby is a difficult person to love-for Hunter and for the reader. Her child-like behavior was questionable; her intent was to break the heart of the man who broke her own. Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into a story about one kiss, two people and five years of heartbreak. Told in alternating first person POV from Hunter and Gabby’s perspective, On The Rocks is a story where mistaken beliefs fuel the hatred and pain of rejection, in the end, to discover that falling in love with your sister’s best friend is probably the thing that you have ever done. But convincing your sister’s best friend is another matter-all together. Copy supplied by the author.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This is a great story and I loved it and can't wait for more. Gabby has been in love with her best friends brother, Hunter, most of her life. He is five years older than her and looks at her like she is another little sister. On graduation night, Hunter is the designated driver for Gabby and Casey while they hit all the graduation parties. At almost curfew, Hunter takes Gabby by the arm and looks around for Casey and can't see her. Wyatt, Hunter friend, offers to find her and bring her to the car. While waiting at the car Gabby kisses Hunter and he kisses her back until he realizes what is happening and he stops and tells Gabby it was a mistake. That leaves Gabby heartbroken. It has been five years since that kiss and when every Gabby and Hunter see each other, she is bitter and says hurtful things. She can't get past the hurt. Hunter can't figure out why she hates him until his brother Brody, makes it all clear for him. Gabby really likes him. Hunter has come to see that he wants more from Gabby. He doesn't see her as his little sisters best friend, he now sees a woman and he wants her. Will Gabby let Hunter in and risk getting her heart broken again? Can Hunter make Gabby see that he wants more than just great sex? Can they make a second chance work? This story has it all, love, hate, friendship, best friends, ex-girlfriends, a bar, beach and surfing. I love Sawyer Bennett's writing style and can't wait for Make Mine a Double, Brody's story (book 2 of the Last Call series).

5 Stars! When I saw Sawyer Bennett was going to be writing a new book, I freaked out. I absolutely love her Off Sides series and I knew just because she wrote this book that this new series would be just the same, and after reading the first book, I can confirm this series will be amazing. This is the typical rejection-teenage-love kind of relationship. After that fateful night when Gabby and Hunter were just young kids, everything in their friendship changed. Whenever they're in the same room, they can't stand each other. They're always after each others throats, not backing off at all, ever. Except once, at Gabby fathers' funeral. And on that day Gabby's life changed. She quit school, and took over her fathers' business. That is when Hunter and Gabby's lives intersect once again, with nothing to do but work together. But once their work began and their feud put on hold, Hunter realized how attracted he is to Gabby, and since Hunter goes after what he wants with no thought, this situation will be no different. Hunter wants Gabby, and he will have her, no matter what, but Gabby thinks she'll hold him off, until she can't. This is your everyday teenage love to adult love story, but Sawyer Bennett keeps you intrigued throughout the entire book with Hunter's personality and the twists and turns that she throws out at the calmest moments. This book is wonderful and a great addition to anyone's book shelf. Sawyer once again created an amazing book that will lead into the amazing Last Call series. **I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Loved this book! I was a fan of the Off series and was excited when I found a new book from Sawyer Bennett.
