Running from Demons is the first book by M.K. Theodoratus that I've read. I found it to have excellent world building and well-developed characters. It pulls you into the story and you experience what Pillar is. There is plenty of action, demons magic, some romance. I was enthralled from the first page to the last. I recommend you get this book -- you definitely will not be sorry you did.

Running from Demons by M. K. Theodoratus, this is a wonderful story to read. M. K. Theodoratus pulled me in from the very begining to the very end and loving every bit of it. I never read anything from this author before this story and believe me she is becoming one of my favorite authors. She makes it feel like I am living the story instead of just reading it. I highly recommend this book to all and if you buy this book you will not be disappoint that you did. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Let's start with the good ... I enjoyed reading about Pillar, she was a character that I identified with and she was likeable, even in her fierce and stubborn way. The story resonated somewhat with me, living in a country rife with racism and prejudice, so the author got that aspect of her being a null and the consequences thereof on the money. It was a good way to pass the time, being an avid reader of all genres, however, I found the story quite slow to begin with and rather disjointed - it took me a while to get into it, and I never really felt immersed in the story, the way I have managed to get with other books, as a result of this I struggled to finish it. Running from Demons by M.K. Theodoratus was a action packed, thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. My first read by this author, I didn't know what to expect. But I wasn't expecting how much I loved this book. Right out of the gate we are tossed into a deadly world. And I couldn't get enough of it. Wow, there is so much going on in this book, and there is never a dull moment. I know you're thinking, well won't that be too confusing. No my friends it was not. The pace, thought fast, was smooth, connecting and made you feel like everything was unfolding in a natural way. The detail was heavy and rich, adding to the story, making you feel like you were there. I have to say that it got my heart going, and man oh man, was my heart was pounding. This book has everything you want, a great MC that grows, learns and becomes better by the end. A wicket plot that is ever changing but consistent. And of course, a unique original story that just pulls you in. What else is there say other then you need this book in your life. Overall I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. You will get lost in this world of deadly demons, magic, and of course, be apart of the, fight for your life. Your heart will be in tatters, but at the same time you're going to be rooting for the MC, because if anything, she is worth rooting for. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

I give Running from Demons by M. K. Theodoratus, 5 stars. Pillar is a Null, she has no magic. She is an outcast everywhere she goes. Her mother, who passed away a long time ago, left her with so many unanswered questions. When she has a chance to travel to some of her mother's people, she decides to take the chance and travel to see them. But a teenager travelling on their own is dangerous, especially one without power. Will she learn any more about her family? Not to mention she seems to be attracting attention from some very nasty beings. What do they want with her? This is great book! There is plenty of action, so much is going on that you will not be bored for one second. Not to mention the story of Pillar herself. She never knew her father, and she has spotty memories of her past and her mother. The growth she goes through is very rewarding. Life had never been easy for her, but it has not broken her. She has a wonderful heart too, she helps those who need it. Since the main character just graduated high school, this would probably be considered young adult, but I am many years removed from this group and I believe this is great for all adults. I highly recommend it.
