Reviewed by Arya Fomonyuy for Readers' Favorite It all started as a joke. The four boys from Savannah had just placed an online ad that announced them as experts in the art of spying. But then the first call comes, and they aren’t surprised from where: a terrorist organization kidnaps and blackmails the kids into working with them on an operation involving time travel and unscrupulous scientists. Now, they discover North Korea’s sinister plan of going back in time, using a complicated technology, to change the course of history so they can rule the world. Read on to discover what happens when they step into the time machine, and join them in this rollicking adventure that will take them through different and difficult eras of history. Somewhere Called Now: To Arrive Before You Leave by Daniel Cowan combines fantasy with time travel to create an exciting reading experience for fans of sci-fi. Somewhere Called Now: To Arrive Before You Leave was a satisfactory read for a number of reasons. First, the fully developed and conflicting characters will be hard to ignore. Second, the plot is riveting, crafted to keep the reader guessing and wondering where it will lead them. It has manifold surprises and unexpected twists. A boy who just wants to raise money for school coerces his friends into joining him in creating a fun ad, but they soon find themselves catapulted into an intense conflict that could change the world as we know it. Daniel Cowan’s prose is engaging and his story is one that will excite the imaginations of readers and reward them with an exciting adventure.
