I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed it. Eagerly anticipated every spare second to continue reading. Lots of action and intrigue and I liked the main characters Dani and Patrick, who were believable. The story took us into seas and skies, the world of politics, ancient mysticism, modern technology, crooked contractors and a host of interesting characters. The romance part of the story was well done. The book is great on it's own, but is a perfect end to the trilogy.

This was the third in the Lightning Strikes series by Barbara Freethy. It was a fantastic completion to the series. Dani & Patrick are the final link in figuring out what’s been going on for 10 years. The story contains action, suspense, family, and romance. I had a hard time putting it down. I couldn’t wait to see how it ended.

This was the final book in the Lightning Strikes Trilogy. Dani and Patrick were perfect. The plot was exciting, and so well written, it tied all three books together with a heart stopping conclusion. And, great news that Ms. Freethy plans on an FBI trilogy with the first book's hero being Damon Wolfe!

Dani meets Patrick at a park dedication & discovers his mother died in a plane crash similar to her dads and the situation is more than typical. After saving his life at the park, she begins to him search for answers and finds answers of her own, Dani's life is put in danger & her political career hangs in the balance not to mention an amazing love story develops! Barbara is a very skillful at writing suspense stories and easily winds contemporary romances into each. She brings the same writing style & well developed characters to all styles of writing. Her suspense novels twist & turn & keep you involved from the beginning to the end. I highly suggest reading the whole series of 3 books to really get the biggest impact of these - NOT TO BE MISSED books! Thank you Barbara for another great read!

What a wonderful ending to a great series. This book has it all-mystery, intrigue, romance, passion, just the right amount of heat, family ties, Texas, Washington DC, good politicians, bad politicians and so much more. Although there was so much packed into the book, I never felt like it was rushed or unbelievable. Patrick and Dani were such a charming couple. Although Dani tried to resist Patrick's charm, it just wasn't possible. Together they made such a fabulous team. Although I wanted the mystery to be solved, I wanted Patrick and Dani's story to continue. It was that good! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I would have read it anyways!

Danielle Monroe takes a job in DC but was not as consumed with investigating her father's death as were her sister Alicia and brother Jake. Patrick Kane has a similar tragedy in his past that leads to questioning the Senator that Dani is working for. As an investigative writer, Patrick is following leads as they fight their attraction for each other. Dani and Patrick are a dynamic team that spark ideas from each other. They continue to investigate the two plane crashes and begin asking pointed questions that lead them into some dangerous situations. The mystery unravels and the suspense builds throughout this book, bringing a satisfying conclusion to this three book series. I can always count on Ms. Freethy to tell a fascinating romantic suspense that keeps me interested and entertained.

This was a wonderful finale to the Lightning Strikes trilogy. I enjoyed it from the first paragraph to the end. I had a hard time putting it down. The suspense had me fighting myself to keep from jumping to the end to see who was responsible. I also liked the way Barbara included the Mayan culture into the series. I'm looking forward to her next book!

This is the third book in the Lightning Strikes trilogy. What a great finish to the series! In this book, Dani Monroe, the skeptical sister in the Monroe family is finally convinced of the power of lightning and the need to find closure about her father's death. Enter Patrick Kane with questions about his mother's death and the sparks fly (and lightning flashes!). Great mystery, romance, suspense, family interactions. While this book could be read alone and the story would make sense and seem complete, reading the three books in order gives a better and more complete story. Highly recommended!!!

In the final book in the Lightning Strikes series we finally can solve the mystery that has been constant in the previous two books. Dani the middle child and go-getter does not have the same believes as her brother and sister do about how lightning can speak to you. However after a few too many coincidences and near death experiences, she is all for believing! Patrick is the son a congresswoman who died tragically in a plane crash, However he does not believe that it was an accident but someone deliberately sabotage the plane. He is after answers and he seems to be stirring up things that people do not want him to find out. However his investigative journalist inside him does not want to give up and wants answers. Dani and Patrick uncover more than they thought was possible. The mystery comes to a close and answers will be revealed. Along the way love is found and a suspenseful story that will keep you turning those pages as fast as you can. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Book 3 in LIGHTNING STRIKES Series by Barbara Freethy. Can be read alone, it's a great series, and one would love all three. In this we meet Danielle, or Dani, has new job in DC, a step toward her political goal. She's now working for senator Dillion. At home for her sister's, Alicia's wedding, and as a favor for her boss. She goes to a dedication of a park, honoring a congresswoman. Meeting the son Patrick Kane who also has question of a plane crash 8 years that took his moms life. While Dani , is to have the puzzle piece of her fathers death, 10 years ago. Her dad wasn't in politics, but did charter air trip. His plane went down in jungle of Mexico. Then what's with the ring her great grandmother insist she has.Saying it will give her strength when she needs it. She tried to give it to Alicia to wear as something old for her wedding. Instead she insisted that Dani wear it, now she still couldn't get it off. Yet, returning to her car after her talk with Patrick, noticed the ring, it is gone. Retracing her steps, as thunder and rain begin. She find a man attacking Patrick, in the garden. Lightning strike, she notices the knife, going toward Patrick. What's going on, why is their unanswered questions, and no one will answer Another great mystery and romance. As Dani and Patrick work together to find the missing pieces of puzzle. Received ARC for my honest opinion of which I have given.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am a huge fan of Barbara Freethy's books. She has a comfortable, steady pace that you recognize in each book. Summer Rain is the third and final installment of the Lightning Strikes Series, and it manages to tie up the loose ends that we had so many questions while reading books #1 and #2. Dani is Alicia and Jakes sister, who received a message from her Mamich in book #2, that she would discover the final piece. Dani was skeptical with the mysterious message because it required her to rely on faith and not facts which was her argument with her siblings who felt that the lightning was a source of messages and clues to the disappearance of their father. Dani lives in Washington DC and has worked for the TX state Senator for seven years. She is ambitious and would like to carve out her own role in politics in the future. She is loyal and driven. The story begins at a ribbon cutting ceremony where Dani is attending on behalf of the senator. She meets Patrick Kane, who can't keep his eyes off of her. The ceremony is in honor of Patrick's mother who died mysteriously with another senator in a plane crash. Patrick seeks Dani's help to get access with her boss as he believes he may have answers to his mother's death. Dani is not receptive to his request and let's him know that access will be difficult to impossible given his busy schedule. Their paths cross again when Dani witnesses Patrick being assaulted by a man with a knife and moves in to try to defend him. She is worried about him but also worried that his insistence to see the senator will create problems for her at her job. She has been warned to keep her distance from him, yet the two seem to find each other teaming to figure out the truth behind his mother's death and could it be connected to Dani's father's plane crash. As they discover new clues, they find themselves in danger and learn that a bigger threat is looming ahead that could put innocent lives in danger. I loved the pace of this story, and how Alicia and Jake were incorporated with the final clues. The subject matter is intense and sensitive to what we are experiencing in our current culture. I was also happy to learn that FBI Agent Wolff would have a continuing story with a new series next year. Another winner, can't wait for more!!

Wow! No spoilers here but the final book in the Lightning Series knocked me out! Just outstanding, all the threads come together in a spectacular finale. I had trouble putting it down to sleep. I didn't like Dani in the first two books but in this one i grew to love her. I will be rereading this series, it was that good.
