Pressure is a dangerous thing. It can be something that makes a person snap, typically involving stress and the fear of letting someone else down. It can also be a good thing though. For some, being under pressure may be how they get their best productiveness. In this installment, Anwen is placed under an immense pressure to do something that no one else is able to do. She has exceeded what was placed before her with opening the mountain and waking the slumbering dragons. But, now there is even more danger and Anwen must rise to the challenge again for her friends and family to survive the oncoming storm. Lucas provides an entertaining third installment for readers, one filled with emotion, power, determination, and adventure. Anwen, Tyler, Courtney and Walter are back in this third installment and they are in trouble yet again. A vision has been reoccurring, a vast base of hundreds, maybe thousands of Revenants are on their way to attack the dragons in their weakened state. Still abiding by the prophecy, the four must get together and figure out the best plan of action to find the lost mages. Only their numbers will provide hope for their future that doesn’t end in destruction. With Courtney stays behind to begin training the dragon mages alongside the dragons, Anwen, Tyler and Walter go in search of the lost mages that follow the one called the Walker. Little clues lead them to their next destination, but even if they find them…will there be enough to cause a shift in the war that they have already foreseen coming? Everything is at stake with the mountain being open and the heart left exposed. Anwen and her friends are on a race for time and the dangers are endless…can they make it back in time to save the dragons and protect mountain from the Revenants? Lucas does a great job with character development, world-building, and originality. The story offers a terrific adventure in a land of imagination where dragons live. The author allows her readers to continue into this world, filled with not only adventure, but also elements of suspense and romance. The backstory is thought-provoking and captivating while also being a fast paced novel, easy to read, and entertaining. There are some spelling and grammatical errors throughout the read. Since this is an advanced reader copy, these may have been cleaned up upon further proofreading, but if not, this should not hinder enjoyment of the novel at all. If you are a reader of young adult, coming of age, and science fiction or fantasy, this may be the right book for you. It is recommended that the first and second installment be read prior to diving into this one, since it does pick up where the second one ended. A copy of this book was provided to Turning Another Page by Loving the Book, but this in no way affects our honest opinion of the book or the review that has been written. We provide a five-star rating for Tarragon: Dragon Bane by Karlie Lucas.
The dragons have been awakened but it is going to take time to acclimate to this world. Time they do not have since the Revenants are on the way. But rumor has a lost tribe of mages that might be able to help them. While everyone prepares for the upcoming battle, Anwen and Tyler go on a quest to find the lost mages. It is coming down to the last second to see who is going to win. I was on pins and needles reading this book. I hoped and prayed that they were going to win but everything was looking like it was not going to happen. You will meet new characters that will add beautifully to this world and give you more to care about while you worry if they will survive the battle. There was a lot of preparation for the big battle before it actually happened. Of course you have the race against time for Anwen and Tyler to find the lost mages. But the best part was all the questions you have in the last two books will be answered in Dragon’s Bane. I loved this series and was enthralled through the whole thing. I was so happy that I had all three books that I could binge read at one time. This is a beautiful world and an amazing story. It’s one I think those that like fantasy stories will enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
