About the Author

Patricia Altschul has been featured in publications including Vogue, Town & Country, Architectural Digest, People ; and she is the surprise break-out star of the Bravo hit reality series, Southern Charm. Wise, cultivated, elegant, and funny, Patricia is a consummate hostess and a lifestyle icon whose unique combination of class and sass has endeared her to fans of all ages.

Patricia has earned her status as a preeminent tastemaker. She received her Master’s Degree from George Washington University, where she lectured on Art History. She was a highly-successful art advisor who also amassed her own art collection and has served on the board of the New York Historical Society and other institutions. In addition to being an academic and a philanthropist, she has done a life-long tour-of-duty at the top of the social ladder in Washington, D.C., Oyster Bay, and on Manhattan’s storied Fifth Avenue, where she observed—and ultimately dictated—the modern-day rules of civility. Patricia, who really puts the “social” in social networking, has a glorious brain, the best legs, a killer sense of humor, and expertly curates every aspect of her life.

Deborah Davis is the author of eight books, including Strapless: John Singer Sargent and the Fall of Madame X, Party of the Century: The Fabulous Story of Truman Capote and His Black and White Ball, Gilded: How Newport Became the Richest Resort in America, The Oprah Winfrey Show: Reflections on an American Legacy, Guest of Honor: Booker T. Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and the White House Dinner that Shocked a Nation , which won the prestigious Phillis Wheatley Award for best work of History in 2013, and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award, Fabritius and the Goldfinch , which Amazon named one of the Best Books of 2014, and The Trip: Andy Warhol's Plastic-Fantastic Cross-Country Adventure.

Very enjoyable! I hear Patricia’s voice as I read this charming book that has me laughing and switching back and forth to google her favorite shopping spots. I think I’m a southerner born and raised in Michigan! I also decided to plan a girl trip and visit Charleston again! Love your Style Patricia!

I love the book! I wish it was autographed by Patricia, but still love it! I love the show and enjoy her immensely. She truly is the definition of Southern Class, and makes you long for a more gentile state of life. She is very open and has a wicked sense of humor. I was not disappointed when reading the book, which often happens with similar books. She has now added a new "class" to the published word and makes me want to entertain! Thank you Patricia and please continue to share your ideas and ideals with us.

Having spent a lot of my formative years in South Carolina and raised as a want-to-be southern belle, I started watching Southern Charm as soon as it aired on BRAVO. I fell in love with the city and the characters on the show. Patricia stuck out as the slightly mysterious, glamorous aunt that you are slightly afraid of since you fall so short of her glamorous presence but are dying to have her accept you under her wing. I was taken by the advice she started giving out to others on the show and wished she would take me under her wing to offer some advice! When I saw the book, I had to have it!! It not only goes into Miss Patricia's fabulous pedigree and past lives, but then delves into all the topics you want her to discuss with you and for you to take copious notes on. As a single, divorced mother of two sons, I skipped right to the relationship chapter! Such good advice. I proceeded to read the book from cover to cover one day when my son was home sick and did not want me to leave his side. I was not disappointed. There is relationship advice, entertaining hints, recipes and a whole lot of laughs. It left me wanting the full color, coffee table, follow-up book filled with more color photos of her home, her parties, her closet/style and her decorating!! Please make this happen as the Southern Martha Stewart type Life Style Guru!! This book changed my life and made me realize that even as haters are going to hate, you have to rise above, take the high road and start winning at love and life!! We all deserve that. Bless you Patricia!! Awaiting that next book! Much love xoxo

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased the book. I love Patricia's character on the show "Southern Charm" and the beautiful parties she hosts so effortlessly. I bought it thinking it'd be pure entertainment guidance. It was more of a memoir with fun facts sprinkled throughout. If you're an aspiring Grand Dame, you'll love the content; or if you're looking for secrets to seemingly eternal youth!. The hardcover has black and white photos, but the eBook has colored. I was surprised to see black and white photos, but it didn't impact my enjoyment of the content.

The Art Of Southern Charm is a closer look at the glamorous lifestyle in Charleston, SC! Patricia may just jumped onto the big scene by being on Bravo's Southern Charm but she shows everyone in this book what got her to that point in her life. With more of a closer look at her personal life and what to do or not to do at social gatherings in the South, this book is a must read for any true Southern Charm fan!! I have to admit that while I do watch Southern Charm, Patricia wasn't my favorite person on the show but by reading this book and seeing what she truly is like, it's made me like her more as a person! Just reading this book has made me want to go back to Charleston to visit and I could easily see why Patricia picked Charleston as her town to live in, who wouldn't want to live in a town filled with history and beauty!! While reading everything that Patricia has gone through in her life, you can't help but wonder what will come from her next!! Thank You to Patricia Altschul for giving everyone a closer look at your lifestyle and the city that I dearly love!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley!
