Overview

Becky Sawyer has known her friends for most of her 14 years. Ever since kindergarten in 1960, they have hung out together and attended school together. Their opinions on race never came up, and so, Becky wasn't aware of the negative attitudes that existed, including with her mother. When a black family moves in next door and the black girl living there tries to befriend her, she finds out quickly.
Influenced by peer pressure, she resents the black girl at first. A mean side to her personality comes out. In time, her views change and she sees her lifelong friends in a different light.

About the Author

Writing began as a school assignment and evolved into creating short stories. Later in life, it became screenwriting as a result with a meeting with Oliver Stone. Now, those screenplays have been converted into books and more short stories using screenplay-style pacing. The books move very quickly.
